The LDP wants to change more than Article 9, though. I remember reading (in Japanese) a pdf with the LDP's proposed changes to the constitution, by I can't find it now ... does anybody know where to find it?

Shinzo Abe's long-cherished goal of achieving the first-ever amendment to the pacifist supreme law.

The public is against this, government is supposed to represent the public.

The proposed changes are way more than Article 9 , but aren't being openly discussed due to there nature being abhorrent to a majority of people who inhale oxygen.

@Kobe White Bar Owner: I don't know if that PDF was in response to what I wrote, but the PDF I'm talking about was put out by the LDP itself, highlighting their proposed rewordings.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

its great, go and kill people and die. But I doubt LDP people and families will crawl through desserts wearing radiation/biological suits in 45 degrees eating plastic high protein food, or falling from planes into -20degrees NK.

if they want to change Article 9, they should go first.

Thanks to the first past the post system used in single seat elections they only see the need to represent the minority that voted for them. What most of the people might think isn't important.

People always say that Japan needs to loosen their military restraints to become a "normal" country with their own "normal" military. I would definitely say that Japan throughout the years has been the most "normal" country! Countries who has a military force, easily engages themselves in invasions and operations carried out by USA.

I would say that staying peaceful and thereby not repeating the "evil circle" of killing is considered more normal than countries who constantly repeats this "evil circle"! Japan, do not be fooled by the LDP's pro-militaristic campaign. This can seriously lead Japan down the disasterous path similar to the one the U.S have had in the Middle East!

It's not worth to sacrifice lives of your own nation to interfere in a predominant religious conflict between Shias and Sunnis in the Middle East. Let them find out themselves how devastating their own conflict really is! This way, their only option is to cooperate to curb the threat from terrorists.
