no country in the world gives more government subsidies and tax breaks to its auto and agriculture industries than the US. making prices in these sectors artificially low and their exports. whats deplorable is America harps on about free/fare trade and they dont practice this themselves.

Not sure that the EU's own trade policies stand up to much scrutiny.  Plenty of tariffs and other barriers to trading into the EU.  Plus farming subsidies and so on.

Personal story   Friend of mine was here and I bought him 2 little stauettes in bronze of temple gods.  Sent them to him in Germany.  Value about EUR 100.   German customs levied a 50% import duty on them, even though they were marked as a gift.........  Not even in Japan.

The poster fails to see that besides military equipment, on Goods Proudly Made in the USA has not much to offer but that Services are doing traditionally excellent.

The poster fails to mention [but knows] that Corporate America with the Big Tech firms and Coke being most visible are thriving by globalism.

The truth is that is the US became a superpower by the efforts of born Europeans.

What they call Intellectual Property today was taken as war booty after WW2 from the Germans by the US and they either abducted the researchers involved or threatened them with prison time. The expertise of Germans enabled the US to send Americans to the moon. The European brain drain before and after WW 2 and later Asians gave the US the lead on many fields and thrived the Ivy League universities.

On the outposts of Corporate America are often Europeans in charge as they learned how to deal with foreign cultures and thus taking care of the interests of US stakeholders, excuse me stockholders :)

Honestly I would not have voted for Clinton either if I was an American.

Seventeen yrs ago I was in the position to join a neighbourhood election in the US but much to the surprise of my Gotham relationship of those days and her friends I refused to apply for a Green Card. Some Gotham women really believe that all foreign men are desperate in search for one :)
