Seems like a fairly constructive summit, ensuring unity on Ukraine and trying for unity on China. India should be a permanent guest assuming they don't slide further into support for Russia.

Good leaders serve their followers with rich doses of peace and tranquility. May their tribe increase.

Good, now can we finally start using the ( crucial to the Hiroshima summit ) lockers at Shinjuku station again?

During this G7, Biden announced a $375 million arms package. Is it just me or are these packages getting smaller..

The US record keeping is soooo good and audits are so effective that they “found” money they thought they already gave but didn’t.

so they immediately sent it.

what debt ceiling?

No mention of the anti-G7 march that went through Hiroshima?

Not all the Hiroshima residents were happy with the lockdown in their city

An anti-G7 procession led by communists was reported on TBS, but basically there are few people in Japan who oppose the G7.

It was the G7 where anti-communism, anti-Russia, and anti-China became clear.

South Korea, which does not agree with this joint declaration, may not be invited as an observer from now on, as it did at the previous G7 meeting held in Germany.

And yet the fiscally responsible Trump administration raised funding for the defense department multiple times.

What debt ceiling?

How can a world be anti Russian

Russian Art and culture, its people

However the Putin's Russian government has poisoned every aspect....

They made a mistake in kicking Russia out of their group. Don’t they know the importance of keeping your enemies near you?

Having the G-7 meeting of democracies in Hiroshima is a good counter-point to Putin's constant nuclear saber rattling.

1glenn,

Yes without any debate or argument.

I would contend to convince, actuate. advise. affect

OK, how far would you be prepared to support UK military action, boots on the ground directly in Ukraine?

Sorry it is difficult ask.

I guess you would have been happy to dance along with land-grabbing, warmongering Nazi Germany too - they wrote the playbook fascist Russia is following.

Look up a gentleman named Neville Chamberlain. He was also a big advocate of keeping one's enemies near you.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Sunday touted the achievements of the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima, saying the leaders from the advanced economies agreed to work toward a world without nuclear weapons and stand by Ukraine.

The first one is a pipe dream.

(Not to mention, it's actually not unreasonable -- even logical -- to believe that nuclear weapons, so long as they're not used, have actually made the world safer due to the deterrence they have provided.)

The second one is just vapid virtue-signaling. Really, they arranged this big expensive conference/tourism junket ... just to proudly assert that they "stand with Ukraine"?

"Achievements" -- please.

If there is a protest or comments forming a critique against the western narrative then it is ‘communists’?

Utter nonsense from CBS in describing the largely middle aged and above crowd that marched in Hiroshima

Seems like one big puppet show.

No real surprises, G-7 put on brave face, that was to be expected. Situation in Ukraine clearly worsening on all fronts and time's not on their side, as people leave daily.

Ukrainian spring/summer offensive seems very unlikely to achieve any substantial gains, given limited UA size.

Other big problem is public support, especially for G-7 politicians. It would seem that also is time constrained.

Neutral Ukrainian Democracy realizing peace & prosperity will in the end be far better choice than current choice as Proxy Force for US and NATO.

Especially as Ukraine has no strategic deterrence value for NATO, which already possesses enough weapons to destroy Russia and the World many times over.

As a long term resident of Hiroshima, the G7 wasn't that big a hassle. Some schools closed , many people worked from home, but neither is a bad thing.

The pr for the city was great and the symbolism of all the leaders visiting the peace park was powerful.

We have to spend the whole week with Hiroshima as the backdrop and the Bomb Dome as a reminder, watch countless TV shows and listen to people who know damn well that nuclear weapons aren't going away. Pointless to even debate and call for that to happen. Anyone in their right mind think NK is going to just hand over their main trump card? Do you really think the U.S. would ever give them up? How about Russia? Pakistan or India? Israel? Time to really be realistic. And on that note, what bad thing from the world has ever disappeared?

A peace deal could happen (it won’t look like the 10 point plan which is completely unrealistic), a major hurdle is the Kiev regime completely ignored and flouting previous signed agreements such as Minsk.

Three weeks later nobody will remember what G7 talk soup has talked about in Hiroshima. The nuclear armed countries will be busy for their nuclear buildup.

The "Neutral Ukraine" you want would actually be a Russian satellite. A fully armed Ukraine on the other hand will bring democracy, peace, and prosperity.

Removal of Russia as much as possible is the only path to peace. A major hurdle is the Moscow regime being completely dishonest and having to have everything reasonable imposed on it by force.

TaiwanIsNotChina, after such statements... don't you realize that Putin will have 100% suppot of his people, Russians? The support will soar from 80 % to 100%.

You are an extremist who imagines that everything is possible for him. You're wrong. The path to peace is the guarentee of Russia's security by hostile countries. Plus the destruction of the Nazi nest on the territory of Ukraine.

Putin is right!

Russians only get their news from state TV. I'd have to be pretty important to make an appearance there.

Russia could have been treated much more harshly after 1991. Instead reasonable treaties were made, loans were made, and no one that wasn't occupied celebrated. What did the west get in exchange for that? A giant Nazi state trying to redraw borders.

Plus the destruction of the Nazi nest on the territory of Ukraine.

Takes one to know one.

Putin is right!

He's also a war criminal.
