Simply unfit to be any level diplomat let alone the second highest! Japan definitely have much better and more capable people who can act as professional diplomats. If he would have used those same exact words against The US or China, he would have been sent home within minutes.

Total disrespect. When you're a diplomat dealing with the government officials of a foreign land, you just don't use that kind of lippy talk. It's even worse when he smarts off like that in the host country. No wonder they kicked him out.

The most likely explanation for the incident is obviously lack of abilities for the position he was in, but for some reason it still feels like something done completely on purpose to complicate things at the "worst" possible timing.
