kishida want Japanese to suffer with 300 yen/l of fuel, what else???

Hagiuda is a smart man. Paying more for your oil will not "save" Ukraine nor hurt Russia. But it will hurt the people of Japan.

Those who want to pay more for your oil are welcome.... just fill your tank and pay as usual then throw ¥500 into a drain. The people of the Ukraine will be grateful.

And yet, when India said almost the same thing, world leaders were quick to pile scorn India for not being supportive of Ukraine? Diplomats were dispatched to New Delhi to change India's decision making? Anyone see a problem here?

Good on him for showing some sense!

This one sided reporting of what is a much more complex war is like woke twitter trolls on steroids! Russia is no saint but neithe is the US an it’s puppets!

"It is necessary for countries to do what they can do to keep pace," ahh how about diversity your energy needs. Not like Japan has been surprised (I hope) by this. Or the idea of no/ little planning what it seems to be has happened. No plan B. Panic and a crazy flinging of arms, “we have no affordable energy” who would have thought that might happen. But things shouldn’t change……..tears.

No doubt he would be the first to whine and squeal if Japan were in need of support and countries shrugged their shoulders and turned their backs on the suffering.

Japan has had more than enough time to diversify its energy sources and reduce/abandon reliance on imported fossil fuel, its not as if the world hasn’t faced a climate crisis triggered by fossil fuels or something. Their failure to act is not now an excuse for supporting russias military murder and rape machine.

Japan let’s in only a dozen refugees, provides no military support, and won’t cut out Russian oil.

And it gets angry when Ukraine doesn’t say “thank you” properly?

For this case, he is correct.

Only 3.6 percent of its crude oil imports, and Japan waffles? Pretty disgusting.

Japan asked the United States to increase liquefied natural gas output, Hagiuda said

Good luck with that, the current US administration is doing everything it can do stop further US production of energy sources such as natural gas.

3.6pc, 8.8pc, these are tiny numbers. How about an economy drive and more renewable energy should be able to do without this altogether. Russia banning Japanese officials in other news, can Japan not do more?

Japan is being gutless like the Turks and Israelis, a fair weather ally unwilling to accept some hardship for the sake of defending democratic values. Truly reprehensible.

The chickens are coming home to roost for countries that took energy policy advice from a high school student.

We, it's no surprise really. Japan has always wanted it's cake and eat it.

Again, another flub by old Japanese men running the country. Never mind that Japan imports less than 8% of carbon pollutant energy from Russia and never mind that Putin will never give Japan back its northern territories, Japan cannot support its allies and stand up to dictator Putin. It comes down to greed conquers all. Kowtow to Japanese oil and gas importers rather than doing the right thing. Let’s hope when Japan needs the support Old men leading its Allies will be less avericial

For years certain Japanese companies have researched tidal power which could be utilized for power production but there isn’t the will to wean the country off oil.

There seems to be no will when Japan dropped the grid feed in rate for solar power from 42 yen to 36 yen!

Where are the free EV charging ports in Japan?

The UK has over 20% of its charging ports free to use!

And Japan?

Where are they?

Even cloudy Germany is ahead of Japan in the uptake of solar power-Japan needs to do way better!

Jeez, a smart cabinet member. The Ukraine scuffle has nothing to do with Japan, keep out of it.

Well said!

We, it's no surprise really. Japan has always wanted it's cake and eat it.

Exactly!

Japan is being gutless like the Turks and Israelis, a fair weather ally unwilling to accept some hardship for the sake of defending democratic values. Truly reprehensible.

Israel held back after Iraq fired 39 Scud missiles at it during Desert Storm in alliance with the US' wishes.

Short, quick history lesson.

"Japan has limited resources and it is difficult for us to immediately align ourselves" with the EU, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Koichi Hagiuda told reporters in Washington Wednesday after meeting with senior U.S. officials.

Very simply, the US, not any European country, has bases in Japan to provide security for this country..

Because why on earth would Japan not try to play both sides?

The Yen will reach 360 to 1 USD by the end of this year.

360¥ to 1$ that’s a load of septic dysentery, you are having a giraffe (laugh) I presume?
