Why do countries like Russia and China get upset at missile defence systems? Especially after gloating that their nuclear missiles are "unstoppable" and will lay waste to any country that opposes them. In the interests of regional stability, of course.

Amusing how Russia gets so worked up about a bordering nation taking steps to protect themselves. Shows Russia can never be trusted. Good on Japan for taking steps to protect itself from its pathetic neighbours

Now the strategic balance between the U.S. and Russia is based on nuclear deterrent: both countries can destroy each other with nukes. The Aegis system, that will be also a part of the U.S. missile defense, can diminish the Russian deterrent, that explains why they are unhappy. And they have a point.

North Koreans think the same - "yeah, the American morons getting triggered over our missiles, it means we are doing something right".

Japans decision to purchase a missile system for domestic reasons and defense, is being exploited by Russia and others to point the finger at America. Trying to make Japans defense choices about Russia and America rather than Japan. Russia employs missile defense systems as do many other nations. Any attempt to assert that Japan should not have that right are an intrusion into Japans Sovereign rights to self defense.

And they have a point.

So we should all get fried because of some unspoken agreement by those who will safe in their bunkers.

There are alternatives, such as not to start a war or do not provoke one by additional armament.

Aegis is a pointless huge waste of money, it is just a new servile payment to the U.S. military industry. It won't make Japan safer, but it will give Russians and Chinese a perfect excuse to take countermesures. Arms race on a new level. Very stupid decision indeed.

North Korea blew up an old shack near the sites to give the not that smart Americans the feeling that they are listening and some small boys reading the news :)

J-govt would do something right if before spending those trillions on the systems that will not be delivered for 6 years (by which time NK will most likely be minimum) , could spend a fraction of that sum and for example put air conditioners into the 60 % of public elementary and JH schools where kids are suffering from heat exhaustion in the sauna like conditions this summer. Get the priorities straight.

Trumpists must understand that the 'trillions' are needed to build a Wall back home and not worry about kids they are not familiar with :)
