I wonder if anyone in the Abe cabinet has actually taken the time to look at a map and realize that it says "Korea" and not Japan on it?

(Yeah if folks want to get technical/anal I am speaking generally here and am not going to take the time to write all the names out in Japanese or Hangul!)

Point is, Japan can disagree all it wants, but it shouldn't be "news". Korean's need to work this one out, and Japan and the rest of the world should work to the end of assisting to push the peace process along, and not look to continually stick a wrench into the gears of progress!

It doesn't matter. This is not "news". If the US, South Korea and Japan agree that CVID is required of North Korea then there's no problem. And from the article it shows that South Korea and Japan are in agreement,

""But there must be CVID (complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement), and it must be enforced, and I believe Kim Jong Un will embrace it," Song told the forum."

Western media trying hard to create a "dispute" where there really isn't any. They live off his stuff.

It is reporting on what a Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera, and other politicians have said. Where is the fake news?

No one said it's "Fake news". I said it's "Not News". The writer tries to paint a "dispute" while his own article quotes the South Korean Defense Minister saying exactly what Japan is saying, that the objective is CVID.

Kim Jong Un must be given the benefit of the doubt

I sense that this will become Song Young-moo's Chamberlain moment!

Moon is a fool if he believes the North are sincere in their ambitions and motives!

NK is demanding money from Japan so why not Japan say something?

Poor Japan. Abe Shinzo has worked so hard to be the best Puppet but the Master keeps pulling different ways on the strings and forces Japanese officials to mouth his thoughts....however ill formed they might be.

"If you continue to doubt Kim Jong Un's motives, that will only come as an obstacle to dialogue and progress." That's what June 12 in Singapore is schedule, right? What NK did in the past was a different page and Japan is barking too loud to put excessive pressure to that expected meeting. This up-to-date page is for Peace Treaty agreement on the conditions going on. How can only excessive conditions come earlier of any peace agreement? Japan of this Abe govt., please be smarter, Japan has much worldly well-known values...

A new normal in Northeast Asia is on horizon and Japan becomes to itself again: being a Northeast Asian nation, as 3000 years ago. For Japan to be respected, Northeast Asia has to be respected; for Japan to be strong, Northeast Asia has to be strong; for Japan to be peaceful, Northeast Asia has to be peaceful. Without Northeast Asia, Japan is nothing, as simple as that.
