There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we should be preparing to withdraw all US military assets out of Moon's SK.

I'm inclined to agree. Moon doesn't seem to want the U.S. or Japan as its allies. Let Moon deal with peace treaty and unification issues alone and on NK terms as Putin, Xi and Kim wants. And after the dust settles and it turns out that DPRK is the ruling regime in the unified Korea, then so be it. Moon led SK down the path toward that destiny.

And as for the U.S., first withdraw from Korea, then Okinawa and mainland Japan and everybody should be happy......until China moves in. The leftists and CCP sympathizers here don't view China as the imperialist warmongering colonizer they view the U.S. as.

China doesn't want have a united Korea that is a US ally on its boarder, as the relationship with Japan, the other main US ally in the area,

But do South Korean people want a unified Korea aligned with China and Russia? Moon seems to be leading his country down that path.

Trump is partly responsible for this situation by propping up the dictatorship in North Korea with kind words and all sorts of vague promises, he has disturbed the (unfortunate for North Koreans) balance in the region.

China doesn't want have a united Korea that is a US ally on its boarder, as the relationship with Japan, the other main US ally in the area, falls apart almost like clockwork we are looking at a region that will head toward a military build up and controlling autocratic governments... this is not good for the people anywhere.

This is the rumblings of war I'm starting to worry.

None of the players in these sandbox games look good. They are behaving like selfrighous spoiled brats who lack statesmanship, dignity and responsibility = response-ability, the ability to respond rationally and instead blame each other and the world for their lack of maturity caused by lack of real experience in their sheltered self-indulgent lives. With these kind of 'leaders' the future looks bleak.

By protesting to Japan everyday, do their livelihood become any better? Japanese are so silent. The reason may be they think doing such a thing does not help their individual livelihood at all.

yeah...keep kissing Kim's arse, keep giving south korean nationalists the hope that they could reunite, keep chasing that Nobel prize because Obama has one. Guess what, you'll never have it!

@kwatt

You mean the US should just allow the trade surplus with China and theft of US' companies' intellectual properties? Like that?

@gkamburoff

As an American, I dont belong to your "we". Contrary to the typical insistence of the left that your opinion and belief should be the opinion and belief for all, it doesn't fly.

@Backpacking Nepal

Sorry to say, that is not humiliation for SK. It's a source of their pride. No matter how wrong, twisted and hateful.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"Calm, confident words from national leaders.... " You mean Moon's " we will never lose to Japan again" statement?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump hesitates to say anything on this matter, because Abe is imitating exactly what Trump is doing against China. He may have better say like "Abe, don't copy me!".

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Once again the mass-produced signs (or should I say sign) and highly choreographed protests. I wonder what rank the 'Professional Protesting Sector' holds on SK's employment index.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Did anyone notice the little girl happily holding the sign in the mid-down of the picture?

This is humiliation to their own kids.

Poor Trump.

Can you imagine the agony of jealousy he must feel when Kim gets one of those huge military parades?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

As an American, I ask forgiveness for what my country has done to the world with Trump.

We are all very embarrassed we let Putin determine our president, and will correct the error.

Thank you.

Trump should know the biggest US-China trade war puts whole world in worst position.

Another useless comment from our genius in chief. SK has been shifting away from the US camp for a couple of decades now. Our pressuring SK to get together with JPN on the 2015 CW Agreement was the last thing we did to keep the US-JPN-SK alliance intact. And SK under Moon ripped it up. Moon is again threatening the alliance with the threat of dropping the GSOMIA. Japan is not doing a thing to damage the alliance or the US strategic posture in Asia. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we should be preparing to withdraw all US military assets out of Moon's SK.

As the Chinese economy stalls, the CCP power will recede and middle-class Chinese will become less happy with the leadership.

Reducing CCP power is good for everyone, especially SK and JP. The best case will be for the current leadership to be thrown out, ending Xi's lifetime appointment.

Proof that tRump has absolutely zero clue as to how the world works.

They got to get along?

Tell that to the South Korean government. They are the petulant kids with a chip on their shoulders, always perceiving a slight or injustice where none is present.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The US want this so they can control more of the region, their threat is China, by controlling the strings between Japan and Korea the US can govern Asia. South Korea and Japan are both acting like babies, the threat is China and the US not each other.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Just maybe, South Korea and Japan need to remind the US who its friends are - cause trump sees NK & Russia as his bff.

who lost the JPN SK trade war? JPN and SK. who won? China. with trade ties between JPN and SK frayed, neither will risk economic retaliation from China by allowing US missiles on their soil.

Abe is slick. his trade war has received a lot of press coverage around the world and every article has an obligatory back story of Japanese wartime forced labor and sex slavery. great PR ahead of the Olympics. think SK won’t be motivated now to shame Japan before Tokyo 2020? he just kicked a hornet’s nest.

Come On! When and how trade WAR happened? SK and it's supporters including you guys are all insane. LOL

Unless it involves religion, disputes will work themselves out...in time. Historically, the British and the US were bitter enemies for almost 100 years, and now, for the most part, we are great friends. If the same formula is followed, by 2045, Japan, China and the Koreas will be great friends. Sincerely, I hope the Asian powers can finally sort out their differences.

Why should Japan surrender to Korea without a fight? Next Korea will claim Tsushima and threaten invasion by military force.

TRANSLATION: trumps money is in a bad position.

"South Korea and Japan are fighting all the time. They've got to get along because it puts us in a bad position," Trump told reporters at the White House. "They're supposed to be allies."

That's a diplomatic way of saying, "You two pixies knock it off!"

While it is not  good for neighboring countries like S. Korea and Japan to be at differences with each other . . . Trump is not seen as a trustworthy person by many in U. S. Congress. see https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/23/politics/democrats-impeachment-whip-list/index.html

except that Trump's trade war with China has broad bipartisan support and is likely to continue after his presidency.

@TheLongTermer

If you are referring to the NYDailyNews writer then I am aware of him. Many things he says are true but they are also one sided. While China is getting hit hard, so are many US businesses. The thing is, if China fails then so does America. The two economies are too intertwined.

Trump is simply trying to do to China what past Presidents did to Russia in order to cripple it. The problem with that is China/US is not Russia/US. America helped build China. Furthermore, many American corporations became empires because of their business ventures in China. A huge part of the American bail out after the 07 crash was because of China. In the end, this will simply be a test as to how quick both economies break.

Japan and Korea are not allies. They are closer than that, siblings who argue, which no parents can stop. Little brother Korea would like to be big brother, (again?) as perhaps two thousand years ago it once was.

Gordon Chang, a brilliant mind and expert on China, explained how Trump is bringing the pain to China and how past goofs neglected to do so, and the consequences. It had to be done sooner or later. Look him up, listen and learn.

Trump wrote a book called "The Art of the Deal". He is the deal maker and should make a deal. Not complain.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Foreget it. President Moon will end Gsomia. He is blaming Japan for it as usual but it is an order from NK.

China + US = Trade War

Japan + S.Korea = Trade War

UK + Some Europe = Trade War

Looks like some developing countries are the ones to settle life for good..or maybe downtown to New Zealand?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Seriously, I feel like someone has cloned Trump over the last few weeks. He seems to be saying all the right things consistently.

The only I’m curious about is whether he also believes that defending and praising North Korean missile launches also places the relationship between all three in a bad position?
