You might want to read it then. It is not what you think. Unlike the west Japan understands face. The Japanese approach will be different and be responsive to Asian sensitivities. In concert with other Asian nations it can be useful.

The Japanese won't give the Junta what they really need: a bullet in the head.

Money speaks louder and Japan has money to invest, or not. In the fullness of time a refusal on the part of Japanese firms to invest in Myanmar combined with a refusal by Japan to buy products from Myanmar could have a positive effect on the eventual outcome there.

Btw, considering Japan's history in Burma nobody in Asia would support Japan throwing any kind of military might around in that country. That is a very sensitive matter in that part of Asia. The Thais, India and Myanmar along with Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore all suffered greatly under the IJA and their nations were the scene of horrible jungle fighting. The only "weapons" Japan can wield with any chance of success in that part of the world are diplomatic and economic.
