The TwitDumbiLL is trying desperately to get Japan and specifically, the USA to show HOW the THAAD will function / perform, that's what all these toy launches are about.
"Fishing".

This is how K.J.'s blackmailing strategy works.

Way to celebrate your country's foundation day, by testing weapons of mass destruction.

Abe is fine. His cabinet shuffling is working. He convinced very experienced Onodera. back to SDF.

@toshiko
"SDF can shoot Pyongyang now. It's just self defense right now. Go ahead."
Think you forgetting two rather small things..... China and Russia?
toshiko
@Kobe:Once upon a time, there were wars called Japan Russia war and twice Japan China wars. Each time weaponless Japan won. Study history before writing your paranoia toooward Russia and China.
Halwick
@toshiko, that was a very different Japan back then. That Japan was militarily more ambitious. Read your history more carefully, they were NOT weaponless, they had a well-armed army and navy. By the 1930s the IJN boasted some of the most powerful battleships in the world and the most capable and advanced naval-based fighter plane.
Today we have a more pacifist Japan who will avoid armed conflict at any cost and will only defend itself so long as the U.S. is behind them.
OssanAmerica
Japan, like any country, would defend themselves if the US was NOT behind them. It's the fact that the US has been behind them since WWII that Japan has no interest in offensive capability and will avoid armed conflict at any cost. Take the U.S. out of the equation and you have a while different ball game.

Defense minister Onodera is good. I'm glad he replaced Inada under the circumstance.
toshiko
I am not sure but Japan might invented another system super than THAAD. Unlike S Korea, Japan is not eager to jump to US weapon sales pitch.
toshiko
@Burning Bush: Who told you to stay under desk? Guam commanding officer advised stay inside of hooouse if missile is dropped into sea. In Japan, you ae the only one who is telling under desk.
BeerDeliveryGuy
There is some credible speculation now, that the launch was a test of a new 3 stage missile, with each stage launched independently to avoid scrutiny.
Such a missile, if successfully developed, would be able to reach anywhere in the world.

Abe will be pm for three more years. The either UN ooor Nobel peace prize or pacifying N Korea without weapon.
smithinjapan
Seriously... what did Japan honestly think would happen after the war games and further sanctions? That NK would actually buckle to what Japan considers pressure?
Once again, Kim gives a gift to Abe.
ChinhDao
Japan had to find out another way to punish Quixotic Jong-un. E.g., to play fire with fire. The "so-called" socialists or workers could only hear the hissing sounds of missles and bombings.

@toshiko,
What Halwick said.

PM Abe can't manage Japan based on his personal experiences. It is one thing for him to be very submissive under pressure, it is quite another when he puts pressures onto other nations.
