Likely to last 100 days when he realizes he's actually expected to do stuff.

“… security ties and partnerships with “other like-minded democracies in Asia …” lol.

Do people actually believe this guff?
Bob Fosse
Interesting photo. Can hardly spot the dye jobs among the virile young go-getters.
Asakaze
Geez, guys, don't be so cynical. Give Kishida some time, and only then unleash yourselves.
Sven Asai
That’s right. It is a kind of manner , style and unwritten democratic rule, to give a new face at the top 100 days to develop or show and implement his / her new concepts and politics, before a possible much more critical view is articulated in public. Maybe, however with low probability, a chance for him might be also a chance for us. FairPlay…
purple_depressed_bacon
That photo is a wonderful representation of how out of touch Japan is with the rest of the world - buncha conservative old men with their heads stuck in the past. Let's see how long their new puppet will last.
fxgai
How about that photo for diversity?
Bob Fosse
Keeerist. Give him time to what? Mature a little longer?
Asakaze
I don't think he is not mature enough in comparison with any American, European or Australian politician. Critisize politicians for what they do (or not do), not just for the fact they were elected.
Johansawada
so... basically there is nothing "new" about his version of capitalism... same old same old... nothing to see here back to our crocodile videos...
fxgai
So what is “new” about Kishida Kapitalism then? Print and spend plus borrow and redistribute?
Sven Asai
Unbelievable, how outraged some are already on his first day in that position. Would you like to be treated similarly, when being a newbie first day at a company and all employees demand you to be fired, because you probably or are said to be incapable, unskilled, lazy, late and only have old fashioned knowledge to contribute? Would you really be pleased to be treated such too on your first day at the new workplace? lol
Gazman
Not one woman in the headline photograph….or any male under the age of 60ish.

What is this picture from?
A stag party?
Love the social distancing too.
It’s still pretty hot out.
The room must smell like a men’s locker room.
Musk is coming out of my phone right now.

I think the first PM was 135 years ago. So he is the 100th PM, meaning a revolving door or it's like changing underwear.
igfklin
I am sick and tired of another Western slave regime.
I hope that an anti-American party like the CDPJ will come to power.
William77
Look at the picture and see how many women and less than 60 years old politicians are in there.
So much for modernization and diversity.
What a bunch of old right wingers dinosaurs.
And now let’s all hail to the new master.
Spitfire
Man,Japan should be so embarrassed by that photo.
Bob Fosse
Check his history.
A newbie in his first day at the workplace?
I don’t usually do this but since you so frequently do; lol.
therougou
PM doesn't have to wear a mask?
igfklin
Did you know that Abe was the 90th, 96th, 97th and 98th Prime Minister?
You don't seem to know how to count the prime ministers of Japan.
Japan Violet
The man has arrived! Get ready for big changes, The Kishida Revolutionary Social and Economic Prosperity!
TheReds
So? If you are so good at counting then just deduct 4 then. Who cares? Still it is 96th in 135 years? I guess you don't like changing underwear then, or you like flipping over? There's no medicine for an illogical person. Just kidding. Take it easy and we are all just here to say something for fun. You think we are running the country? LOL!
Paul
100th in 135 years!! Holly crap! Isn't that a record??? That would make Japan very special and the people should be very proud of this fact that no Prime Minister ever stays long enough to fulfill his election promises. There must be one or two exceptions, I am sure.
Bob Fosse
Sorting the wheat from the chaff on this thread.
It’s very clear who has been following Japanese politics and who hasn’t.

@Pokus HokusToday
And what do you expect from LDP+Komeido ?
At that age most of them should do some gardening instead of keep ruling with the iron fist.

It's amusing to see that one guy in front of Kishida is the only one not looking at him during the applause.
ShinkansenCaboose
Puppet strings are all over the place.

"" last week's vote to replace Suga as the party's leader was a choice for continuity and stability over CHANGE""
And I rest my case, the G O Boys would rather go to sleep again than to tackle reality.
igfklin
100 th doesn't mean 100 people.
Mr. Kishida is the 64th person Prime Minister of Japan.
Dango bong
never seen that many butt-kissers in one photo in my life. impressive.
good to see Japan's push for "diversity" is paying dividends.
TARA TAN KITAOKA
Too late, it was your choice.

AGAIN WOMEN are given non significant roles AFTER 100 years nothing has changed and if Japan can't get women on board the problems facing the decline will continue as women have little say in government.
Veteran female lawmaker Seiko Noda, is expected to be the minister in charge of declining birthrate and local revitalization. Another woman, Noriko Horiuchi, will become vaccinations minister.
CKAI
History in the taking.
Let's see here, 40 L.Dnt P x their years average age, 69… means that room's about to turn… 3000 years old- it's a miracle.. Jurassic park is real!!
starpunk
Congradulations, Fumio Kishida. Good luck and all the best. You have a lot of problems left over from the past few years' errors, a lot of crap has fallen on your lap.
But the Diet apparently has confidence in you and Japan is praying that you can handle the challenges. May God bless you in your new status. Cheers.
Kumagaijin
That picture says a lot. It almost looks like the photographer was trying not to capture any women or someone under 60 in that photo. Then again, it probably wasn't that difficult.
