How about telling Trump to abide by it? No hope of that, I suppose.

Japan should address the elephant in the room.

Im sorry how demented is this clown? Iran WAS abiding until orange turnip wreaked everything. Why are the clowns so stupid?

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Should ask USA to do the same?.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Talk to the instigator, abe should have told trump the same thing first.

Resource poor Japan has not done enough to reduce its dependence on burning fossil fuels.

Japan's government and corporate fossils leading their nation's fossil economy have kept Japan reliant on and beholden to fuel exporting nations like Iran, other sheikh/kingdoms, the US, and Russia.

Japan's government and corporate fossils care crap about the environment. Trump, speaking for himself and his fellow global .01%ers, showed his cards saying wealth trumps environment. They, like Japan's fossil leaders, continue to get richer and stronger while putting the rest of the world's populations at risk.

What kind of friend is Japan to Iran? Imagine if your friend got a stab in his back and you told him :Do not pull the dagger out, keep that is fine!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

And is that not the fact from the very beginning of its history?

Yes, as is the the fact that doing so damages reputation, causing others to be less willing to negotiate in good faith in the future.

I believe the best outcome for everyone involved when it comes to Iran is to get another deal going regarding the nuclear issue. Trump wants Iran to sign a deal with his name of it, let's get the ball rolling. He needs a deal which would be better for his realection coming in 2020.

That's it in a nutshell. Dump is jealous of Pres. Obama and all of his success, he is motivated to undo Pres. Obama out of spite like others in the media has suggested because Pres. Obama made him look like a fool.

At the same time the con man is trying show that he is better by pulling all of these political stunts. Ending NAFTA just reinstate a lesser version with his name on it. The same with this Iran mess. He is trying to replace Obama's deal with a Dump deal. He is just trying to change the name and ride Pres. Obama coattail.

LOL! He hasn't accomplished anything other than more problems and debt for the US. The worst president in modern history!

If Dump could, he would bring Osama bin Ladden back to life just so he could kill him. He wants to be Pres. Obama.

No. The US just demonstrated that they can't be trusted with any deal. Why sign a new one, if the US can any day simply cancel it for no reason...

Tel Aviv does not control Japanese politics and foreign policy as it does US politics and foreign policy.

Just how Israel has managed to manipulate America, even the American Far Right, to support its every whim, to the point of provoking a potential war with Iran, is beyond me.

Are Americans really that dumb that they can't see what is going on?

Everyone should let Trump negotiate a deal (likely the same one that was already there). Then the next president can work with Iran to rename it the Obama Iran Nuclear Non-proliferation Pact.

We don't have to go the Trump route by getting rid of anything he did, we can just rename them to destroy his legacy.

Kind of like how they're trying to rename the street Trump Tower is on, to Obama Avenue or something like that.

Let's just troll the troll!

I bet Dump pressed Shinzo to tell Kono to make the statement about Iran because France made Dump look foolish and the G7 countries sided with France and Iran.

Whenever Dump looks foolish by being ignored by other countries, Japan is always pushed into making some kind public statement to support this incompetent president.

How is that Nobel Peace Prize going? Didn't Shinzo' s beautiful letter request work? Hasn't Pompeo and Bolton convinced Japan to join their nonexistent coalition against Iran?

Abide by the nuclear deal the US broke? Why should they?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Japan has always had great relations with Iran through history. They have never been to war with each other. Japan does not have intolerance of Islam, like USA and many Western nations. Therefore, resource poor Japan should be given the exception to trade with Iran. Iran has never threatened to us missiiles on Japan, unlike North Korea. Very different situation.

Iran and Japan have very good relations. Behind the scenes what was discussed is not for public consumption. However, Iran has made it very clear.......if the Hormuz is open for you, then the Suez and Gibraltar can't be closed for Iran. Any teenage insolence or manchild drama from Trump, and Iran escalates this!

Chain of command when it comes to the Middle East.

Israel(Netanyahu)-------America(Trump)--------Japan(Abe)

Close but I would edit,

Israel(Netanyahu)-------Fox News----------America(Trump)---------Twitter----------Golf----------Japan(Abe)

Iran didn't violate it. The US did with its allies aggressively detaining Iranian tankers and make it look as if Iran is doing something bad. Look at the activities by US and UK.

glad to see they're bearing up so cheerfully under the strain of running the world!!!!!

This nuke nonsense is getting old.......Iran doesn't need nukes. You can't use em anyway. Iran is winning, without nukes, in case anyone was wondering.

@Strangerland

And is that not the fact from the very beginning of its history?

Yes, as is the the fact that doing so damages reputation, causing others to be less willing to negotiate in good faith in the future.

Breaking of treaties invariably followed by the withholding of assets as they did to Japan.

I listened to the Trump encouraging the Alt Right to rage demented on how "Obama gave Iran $400 million/$2bn/$150bn IN CASH" (you choose the figure) and how treasonous it was ... when actually it was a debt the US had with Iran over a broken contract that predated Iran’s Islamic revolution.

Iran had purchased equipment from the US in the late 1970s, but the US never delivered on it ... and Obama was treasonous to give it back. Like its their right to steal and not deliver.

The US brought about the seizing of somewhere between $50 billion and $150 billion worth of Iranian perfectly legal assets all around the world ... but it's all Iran's fault.

They are trying to do to Iran what they did to Japan.

Oh, forgot to add corn futures before Abe as well.

Another day, another photo of two politicians shaking hands. If only these guys knew how to use Photoshop they could Skype like the rest of us and it'd save a lot of air travel.

The irony is even if they abide by the deal they're still going to get a nuclear weapon within 12 years if Trump loses his re-election bid and we have successive Democrat administrations.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, the irony is that Trump and the morons are so stupid, they thought that destroying the deal that was in place enabling Iran to create nukes now, was a good idea.

Complete and utter morons. And too stupid to even realize how stupid they are.

If the US is allowed to have nuclear weapons, given their track record of war making, dictator supporting, and meddling in other nations' affairs; and the US allows Israel to have undisclosed number of nuclear weapons and not be held accountable to internationally treaties, even though they've a track record of stealing related secrets from the US and even highly enriched uranium from the U.S. Navy nuclear fuel plant (wonder how that happened?); why can't Iran have them?

If I was being harrassed by two aggressive, unstable nuclear powers with track records of expansionism, political interference, treaty breaking and stealing my money and resources (as the US has done to Iran) - *and I believed in the idiocy of war and supporting war machines** - I think I'd want to be able to protect myself.

And, if it wasn't nuclear, I'd sure have an equivalently nasty backup. Right now, I'd be more concerned at what the backup is.

*(For the record, I don't).

There was a deal between two parties. One party (the U.S.) decided to end this deal, it makes another party (Iran) absolutely free of legal obligations to abide by this agreement. I'm really disgusted by Japan's servility that Kono demonstrated again.

Japan has ZERO influence on Iran.

Might as well make the most out of the situation and join the US Hormuz patrol mission.
