Spoiled little children shouting, "MY TURN! Nu-uuuhhh! MY Turn! Not yours! Mine! I was environment minister, then defense, and then nuclear disaster minister, and finally the necessary economic minister, and I had to sit through ALL of them! MY turn!"

The headline says the LDP leader hopefuls position themselves, but this puff-piece does not tell us at all what their "positions" are on the range of key issues facing the nation, nor does it go into any detail about their leadership qualities, simply telling us this one is popular and this one has the "right credentials".

These hopefuls have held key administrative positions, so how did they perform? What did they specifically achieve or what controversy have they faced?

Ryotaro Nakamaru, some serious journalism, please.

We all know their positions and election results. No need to pretend

I hope they choose the worst possible candidate and absolutely tank in the general election, just like 2009.

No different in essence who is elected PM or LDP head. Japan is run by powerful bureaucrats & dictated Japanese social, cultural norms imbedded in the system. Even in out of normal situation, Japan will still likely do the usual as politicians & bureaucrats are not incentivized to really solve problems but maintain status quo. It's a "old men, big boys network" behind the scene power structure, where everyone has it's place.

It's very dangerous if Kono gets the spot.

If this american stooge (who's pretty much educated in the US) runs Japan, Japan would be destroyed.

What proof do you have for your implicit assertion that any of them have policy positions?

No well said !!

Slapstick like as previous power struggle on surface . But a bit difference in pretty confused a lot for the contents .

I can’t claimed any candidate of a sort as well . No hope of this party leader what person makes or not .

With fault of Suga , LDP feels oneself .

Making a new fresh restart , however already has done many many times .

Not such the election, after that its general election issues.

To almakukaku

If Kishida , he might be more subsidy with no stingy than Suga .

On behalf of them excise will be jumping up in sudden.

His current appealing is remarkable than others . But who is a leader or not feels not sure at all.

The LDP knows it will win more votes with a new leader, any new leader so that's why he stepped down.

Just politics as usual. Staying in power is the number one priority.
