I can already see the powers that be asking Ishiba, "Ishida-San, please wait your turn and give Abe a dictator's extra term. After that, he will help work towards ensuring you are the next in line in the game of musical chairs. What's that? He already promised to help Koike? True, but you are a man, so men go first. Koike can wait. So, do we have a deal? Give up your run and let Abe have it, and then we support you when his next term ends?"

No More.. 10% TAX is coming soon, in case yall did not know.. and who is implementing it..

The constitution changes are more far reaching than Artical 9. That's right !!! Shinzo has been so busy to get public understanding on exactly why anything needs changing. The NK threat the Chinese threat but little else to justify such changes. So as a alternative we have someone else sprouting the same demented Nippon Kaigi inspired policy. The difference between the two is a haircut.

Ishiba did however stress the urgency of revising the Constitution on points such as giving the prime minister extraordinary power in case of emergencies including natural disasters.
A common strategy by would-be totalitarian leaders.

Choice is bad or bad? Come on China take over, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, provide workers, connect us to the Silk Road.

to socrateos;
from your: "This is not a national election. It's an election for the LDP leadership by its members. If you are not a LDP member, you have nothing to do with it. It's their own money. Who cares."
I do care, their money is from us the taxpayers, all about us to follow a election only by LDP lawmakers without our votes. Unfairness that co-exists in this political system of Japanese society, never going to change...
paradoxbox
Choose between a guy who wants to revert Japan to pre-war aggression policy, or another guy who wants to revert Japan to pre-war aggression policy
Again, what a lovely democracy we have here

They should all collectively vote for any other party other than the LDP...
That does not make sense since this is an election for LDP leadership.

Dango Bong
He certainly thinks selecting a leadership without competition/election is a bad idea.

Of course. It's an election for the LDP leadership by its members. It's an internal matter within one political party.

This is simply a show to make people think there is actually a choice. It’s like entering a hobbled horse into a two horse race from the same stable! What an insult to Japanese voter intelligence. They should all collectively vote for any other party other than the LDP and send them a clear message....and then I woke up and my coffee was cold!

Under this rotten politicians of LDP of no other contenders to compete Abe, it's definitely Abe to govern Japan for his 3rd. term. A perfect plot amongst the LDP lawmakers will offer another several years of Dark Age to us citizens. Even Ishiba is in the same trail would create more confusion to revise the Constitution article 9, if he will win, by miracle.
papigiulio
Is this really the best Japan has to offer? BTW if Abe will win anyway, can we just skip the whole election, noisy vans and extreme waste of money.

Depopulation, social cradle to grave welfare program, economy, are the top priorities.
Belrick
Nothing to see here. Just the usual acting.

Well Abby has visited people hit by natural disasters and took a tough stance on NK, he also took pictures and waved at people so I guess it’s pretty obvious who the best “leader “is right? :-/

Talk about a choice between dumb and dumber.
How can anyone appreciate the merits of democracy if it was simply imposed on than fought for?
Yubaru
It's all for show. Abe needs a patsy to "lose" to make it look good. He will win by a landslide!
Dango bong
Does Ishiba actually think he can win?
Cricky
Already decided, after party booked. Future bleak.
Akie
An election, has nothing to do with people, like it or not, no joke, it is a best offer brought to you by LDP, guaranteed they can talk.

The pic says it all.
