for the first time ever I pray we get hit with bad weather between Nov 5-7.

To the folks "worried" about Trump and Abe playing a round of golf during this "supposed" threat...pray tell why in the hell didn't they raise this issue prior to the election?

Don't the people mean more than Trump?

It may not quite be genuine outrage, but it does reveal quite conclusively that everything these two have said about the imminence of a North Korean threat to our safety is a lie.

the imminence of a North Korean threat to our safety is a lie.

Welcome to the obvious. I stated as such months ago. I desperately wanted to be wrong. Why are people so gullible??

Do you propose they go hide in bunkers and cancel all festive events nationwide?

The London Blitz and Tokyo firebombing didn’t stop festivals and sports events.

Oh yes; totally “ Inappropriate” because ONE ROUND of Golf will put the security of the entire country in jeopardy.

Play up the threat to secure the election and change Article 9, play it down when you want to hit the links. Rinse and repeat.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

To me this means that N. Korea is not much of a problem.  It is just a fake "big problem" created to distract us from the failure of both Trump and Abe to get anything real done.

The anti-Abes have taken this to a new low, even for their comically low standards. What would you have Trump and Abe do? Huddle in a bunker and weep until NK disintegrates?

Them playing golf is the best possible thing they can do as it keeps Trump away from the populace so he doesn't do anything stupid, shows NK that they aren't cowed and that any move will be met with NK's extinction, while also taking their relationship to new levels to ensure our safety an economic wellbeing in Japan. The only morons who would oppose this are NK and Chinese sympathizers who should be removed from the country.

In a twist of mind-bendingly farcical irony, most anti-Abes who are now scolding him for not taking NK "seriously enough" are the ones who were suspiciously trumping on about how NK isn't even a threat and is a media invention in the first place. How do these people get into the country..?

dcog9065, exactly!

The same people who poo-pooed the J-alert and delay of trains, and constantly mock Japanese people for being concerned about NK missiles are now berating Abe and Trump for “not taking NK seriously.”

When Trump played golf game with Abe, he spend his own money and his own time. Abe should follow suit.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Sugars job is to dismiss any criticism of the regime warranted or not. Like a 6 year old denied his own way.

As a present, Abe gave Trump a driver worth around $4,500.

most likely paid for with OUR taxes.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Must understand the LDP don't view money's as ours but theirs as a right so, spending $4,500 on a stick used to hit a ball around a park to give to a billionaire makes perfect sence.

Apparently US presidents can keep presents valued up to US$100, but need to pay declare and pay tax on anything more, unless they donate to a museum. Apparently also there is a museum of presents to presidents. I suppose Trump's driver will be locked up in there. Or another complication for his tax return.

Hmm, but it's only Wednesday but Abe is already off with Trump on course. Shows where his priorities are, especially as the driver would have been in the pipeline before last Sunday's election.

"Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga on Tuesday brushed off concerns over whether it was appropriate for U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to hit the golf course with the threat of North Korean nuclear missiles hanging over the world."

That is going to be the number one priority of this cabinet -- brushing off the opinions and concerns of the public (when it does not and cannot get what it wants). Abe made it clear both before and on and after the election that North Korea is an imminent threat, with Suga and others only yesterday saying to the world (and US in particular in an effort to pick up the pace of the war machine) how war could come "any day". But a game of golf is no problem amidts the rush to change the Constitution and the need to "be prepared for war to break out at any given time"?

Shows you how much of a threat things really are.

nobody complained when Obama played golf. Get real people world leaders do this for bonding just because its Trump doesnt make it evil

nobody complained when Obama played golf.

Yes they did.

Security is a major concern. I worry the North Koreans might conceal a frogman in one of the ponds on the course, who would attempt to assassinate POTUS with a speargun. They should detonate mines in advance of the round of golf.

nobody complained when Obama played golf.

Yes they did.

Especially Trump did.

No, I propose they base their election campaigns on their competence to enact rational policy, as opposed to just stoking the fears of delusional nationalists with a steady stream of lies.

Oh yes; totally “ Inappropriate” because ONE ROUND of Golf will put the security of the entire country in jeopardy.

If North Korea is truly an imminent threat as they suggest, yes, yes it will. Obviously they lied.

Let's put it like this, if at my job I proposed we faced an imminent existential threat from our rivals, and then turned around and used company money to go golfing instead of solving the problem I claimed existed, I would be fired. And that's because my company expects a basic level of competence from me, which is not what we expect from these two clowns.

LOL, Dango got played like a Bongo drum. Just another goofy neocon with a microscopic memory.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Oh really?

Haha, wow!

That's awesome, but all said, I don't really see the problem here. Playing a round of golf involves a fairly lengthy period of time together, during which a lot of talking can be done. Doing it in an office somewhere isn't going to fix the N. Korea problem, and golf makes for good business.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Well, you also have to add the writer(s) and publisher of the article as well. They are just as, if not more guilty, for spreading unnecessary "news". Since they can't get a "real" story to talk about, they have to create one, and that is an ever growing problem today!
