Sexy environment.

One year back at the U.N, Japan explained why it is supporting fossil energy and promoted that new technologies are efficient and strongly reduce carbon emissions. Japan was heavily criticized.

Japan decided to get out from carbon based energies, which is good , but I do not see the country leading at all on the international scene. This is rhetoric for domestic political purpose.

Now my concern is that there is a solar panel construction rush, often destroying forests. and too much solar will create an unbalanced mix and risk of energy lack on cold, cloudy days or warm days

@P.Trump

Like Suga, for example?

Instead of criticizing Koizumi for his father, criticize the man himself please. Personally I think he is doing rather well.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

The man is a nobody living of his fathers reputation

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Not to worry he will continue to say and do as pappy tells him.

Aah, Mr. Sexy has been given additional duties because he had too much time on his hands. And yes, I will criticize a man who makes light of the environmental crisis at an international summit. Reduction in carbon emissions by 2030? How will you do this pray tell? I haven't seen or heard of any concrete major policy initiative coming out of the LDP's mouth regarding lowering emissions other than the standard, we will meet, we pledge, we hope to achieve, blah, blah, blah.

@dbsaiya Reduction in carbon emissions by 2030? How will you do this pray tell? I haven't seen or heard of any concrete major policy initiative coming out of the LDP's mouth.....

Get your facts straight before shooting off your mouth:

"Emissions in the 2019 financial year dropped to 1.213 billion metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent from 1.247 billion tonnes the previous year, to hit their lowest since the 1990 financial year, when Japan began compiling data on greenhouse gas emissions, preliminary environment ministry data showed"

Thought you were joking about ‘choosing our fathers’ @P.Smith 7:15a but looks like it is possible. The yoshi-engumi practice is still employed today: “Approx 1/3 of J companies - Suzuki, Toyota, and Canon included - are business ‘dynasties’ that have adopted non-biological men (Suzuki’s CEO is the fourth adopted son) - Aspirations?

Connections...check.

Oh, you’re photogenic too!

When can you start?

Our HR department would love things as easy as this.

A daddy's boy!

In a country of millions, many well educated some even educated overseas, this is the dross that lead? Something is seriously wrong. The fact that genetic history is a big seller just shows how retarded polotics is in Japan, sadly it says way too much about voters.

That's a juicy non-job with a nice salary! Well played!

Koizumi is at least better than old fool oyajis.

Testimonial to the benefits of a little extra ‘cram school’? Maybe that ‘family leave time” las year was put to good use! He was apparently getting ‘up-to-date’ on actual issues and ideas for his position, as opposed to the parroting “Climate Change ain’t Sexy” in his first days on post September 2019.

Hopefully, his ‘innovation’ to ‘actually use the available leave-time’ puts him in position to offer ‘first hand experience’ for endorsements of much needed ‘child care assistance’ for the working class, as well. Poor Christel still has to lie low until ‘the O debacle” is finally over and gone. Don’t worry. We’ll see her again. Hopefully, as an advocate for families.

It's a fantastic job! No matter what you do, you can just blame the results on "other Asian countries" who didn't try hard enough.

So, is this UN shindig Koizumi will be joining in the UK an online thing? Or are they all going to jump into carbon-spewing climate killers for a taxpayer-funded junket at some comfortably heated 5-star resort for a few days of wind-bagging before flying home to lecture the rest of us on how to lower our standard of living why they remain high on the hog?

Sorry. The climate money-go-round isn't a scam. They really do want the best for us.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

What was his old role?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

We don't need no minister in charge of climate change. Climate change is happening apace without any minister to be in charge of it.

What we need is a minister in charge of combatting climate change.

What was his old role?

Environment Minister. Before that, he'd been a parliamentary secretary.

Koizumi is at least better than old fool oyajis.

The only real difference is age. Many of the ‘old fool oyajis’ are blue bloods like him.

Give the man some time.

"Koizumi is at least better than old fool oyajis."

Naw, he drools, smokes, naps in the Diet, and spits like the best oyaji.

Yeap, as Ken says, make it sexy!

15 years ago, nobody could hold a candle to Japan in the art switching to renewables and then 3/11 happened,

Japan promising a lot on climate change...doing nothing but making statements & still backing coal & gas powered energy.

I don't see a shift in policy at all!!

Fossils leading the age of extinction well done Suga and co & the LDP what an outstanding job you're doing!

Sigh....

How about changing the climate in Nagatacho. Rewilding would work wonders.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So, Koizumi-san will be a "minister in charge of climate change".

Then, we have Tetsushi Sakamoto, Minister in charge of dealing with declining birthrate and promoting regional revitalization, aka the "Minister of Loneliness".

This is absurd. What will be the steps taken? And what will come next? Creating a Ministry of funny ministries? Ministry of silly walks? ... oh wait...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cue musical chairs music. Next year he'll be Finance Minister, then Minister of Labor (welfare, etc.), then Defense, then he'll wait in the long line to be PM.

“Japan must proactively contribute to decarbonizing the world”

if so stop exporting coal technologies

And try for geothermal big scale.

Alas, it needs a no1 to start some new direction
