Well, sounds like at least something will get done in a snap under Suga's watch.

Unfortunately, this kind of ‘snap’ doesn’t result in ‘half’ of these tired faces disappearing. It’s an opportunity for them to shore up their numbers. (Where’s Thanos when we need him?)

Then either Abe, Aso, or some other dumb shmuck hand picked by Nippon Kaigi will come sailing in promising to fix the mistakes Suga made and saying what he did is regrettable without actually criticizing him.

As for anyone who is DUMB enough to vote for the LDP after this, they will own whatever covid fallout there will be after the O and beyond. Not to mention the economic fallout that will follow. They will OWN it.

As much as I hate to say it, part of me hopes the games will be such a disaster that it forces the incompetent buffoon from power.

Not really a snap election if we given plenty of notice now is it? But this is typical how things are done here. Even snap elections hold no surprises.

So then, please answer: As a ‘citizen’ here, You have ‘a voice’.

I mean, LDP will be winning a landslide no matter when the the election is called.

Those who do not like the LDP will simply not vote, and those who are loyal will always vote. Voters vote based on heritage, which gives the current politicians and their families legitimacy. Voters would rather not vote than to vote for for people whom they deem do not have the proper heritage and legitimacy. Unless politicians themselves switch parties, there is no way LDP can lose.

As long as Suga have the support of the political families, i.e. the nobility, he will still be PM. Voters do not determine who holds power, the political families and factions do.

In the end, the voters have absolute loyalty to their regional political families, so national elections are pretty meaningless here, since results are always the same no matter what.

The only possible way the LDP can lose is if there are defections among LDP politicians, which there are no hints of that happening. It is impossible for the LDP to lose elections in Japan, now and forever, they enjoy overwhelming support among voters, and support had been growing in recent years especially among the young.

The voting system here plays no role within the internal ranks of parties - more so with LDP. Suga is where he is all courtesy to lobbyists and law-makers. Doors closed to the people of Japan.

It is impossible for the LDP to lose elections in Japan, now and forever, they enjoy overwhelming support among voters, and support had been growing in recent years especially among the young.

Hardly overwhelming support - less than half the population voted in the 2017 election and the LDP scraped less than half of the votes. They're helped a lot by serious underrepresentation of urban voters, and by the fact that in some areas there's literally no alternative as half-way credible opposition parties just can't afford to field candidates. I'm sure you're right they'll win, but I wouldn't take that as a sign many Japanese people like them very much. I mean, what's to like?
