I can not think of a more fitting picture describing the problem with Japan.

And now, the starting line up for YOUR LDP 2020!

at Guard, from Abenomics. He vowed to fight the coronavirus, yet poses for pictures like this. number 69 Yoshihide Suga!!!!!!!!!!

9 ( +13 / -4 )

Please fellas, contain your excitement! You keep this up, and you might get people over enthusiastic!

16 ( +17 / -1 )

Same old, same old. Motegi and Aso need to be replaced, toxic individuals. As for Abe’s little brother, obviously lining him up as PM in five years or so. Japan has a dynastic power issue similar to North Korea.

16 ( +21 / -5 )

In the photo, the band of near-departed guys: averaged 72 yo.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Pity about Kono, he should have been elected PM. However being side lined comes right from the Trump play book. "Replace him with a relative" and keep him out of any future new govenment. Hope the new gang of five can produce results. Abe was a handsome international fellow who had the right guy a defense minister. Kono had the look of an old street fighter like Joe Palooka but spoke excellent English and a geat sense of humor !

5 ( +9 / -4 )

An excellent photo showing just how vibrant, groundbreaking and energetic the future of Japan will be!

24 ( +26 / -2 )

All I see are old men not socially distancing

18 ( +21 / -3 )

LDP party is now a circus of clowns, and citizens are "good" supporters of what every single person knew who was going to replace Abe and the 2 adversaries also knew Suga will be since he decided to be candidate. Hightech nation Japan to see those poor quality politicians on that photo I feel nausea.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

The expression, “rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic” does come to mind.

17 ( +18 / -1 )

dear oh dear.....

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Hmmmmmm...   Maybe Kono shouldn't have been going on about UFO's.

Agree the pic doesn't inspire great confidence in a new fresh approach.

Policy Research Council chief Hakubun Shimomura

A nasty little yakuza-linked Nippon Kaigi thug who wants to take Japan back to the 1930s. I thought we'd seen the last of this evil weasel. Suga is just Abe 3; what's the betting Tomomi Inada makes a comeback?

19 ( +21 / -2 )

That is a nice photo of the LDP's youth chapter.

19 ( +21 / -2 )

If only they could see themselves, but without Specticals hardly likely. Just when you thought an administration was a disaster they double down with the walking dead.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

For gods sake please retire, you have nothing positive to contribute.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

It's an amazing photo, like a Super Hero movie poster!

This is Japan's future..where no one can afford to retire or have children. The young immigrant care workers have been carefully left out of frame.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Those five earn more in a month than a normal 1000 people do in 10 years And their plan for the future? As limited as it is, is what? Get burnt in a box full of cash? It just makes no scence at all.

One foot in the grave .

Kishi is hardline pro Taiwan. China won't be happy..

The faces of yesterday with their hands in the till of tomorrow.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Maths lesson what are there combined ages....?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

They must have gotten their tie on sale, 3 for 1

But seriously, these men don't show any confidence in their job. 2 of them look surprised that they even got the job, then you got Suga who looks rather tired/sleepy. And what happened to the social distancing and wearing masks?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Hint it is more than the Rolling Stones.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

“criticized for not having any female candidates “

Choosing candidates on the basis of sex is just plain sexism.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

As long as there's no sense of outrage amongst the general public, this type of patronage/OLD boy network will perpetuate indefinitely. The idea that there will be actual "reform" is in practice nothing short of some elaborate Kabuki dance. Retain and remain continue to be the order of the day.

@Itsonlyrocknroll

Trust a mathematician, in this case the sum is much higher than the components summed up....lol

Musical chairs, or re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

There will have been a lot of debts called in, and more favours owed; so you can bet that the next PM and cabinet, and the ones after are already decided.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Sven Asai, hand up, I was hoping you could help me.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

What age should not be a problem, and experience should always be welcome. That being said this is political social and economic disaster, simply because there is no balance, a good government would include younger more critical and more disturbing singers in order to be productive and innovative. However exactly that is missing.

Japan is definitely not showing any signs of being able to address the problems at hand nor to implement necessary reforms, actually this should be worded as desperately necessary reforms in all sectors. The nation is doing itself and that is very worrisome sign off at the Malaise.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Ah, the lineup for this year's Japan's Got Talent. Think I'll give it a miss.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Kishi is hardline pro Taiwan. China won't be happy..

It's a good point to notice.

Reshuffling the non-elected officials or the Kantei staff also deserves wider attention.

All except Nikai are younger than either Trump or Biden...

2 ( +3 / -1 )

OK that's 359 years .....What happen 359 years ago?...

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Seriously? He doesn't want to remove the cybersecurity minister that doesn't know how to use a computer?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I barely can’t contain my excitement....I’m vibrating in my seat.

They gonna run the country into the ground

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Old fossils posing together. Good luck to Japan. Everyone will need it

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Japan certainly does it ‘their’ way. Don’t think ‘Populism’ is gunna be a major issue anytime soon!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Suga is a winner! I must say this for the censors.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

How serious can they possibly be about fighting COVID-19 when they are not socially distancing, not wearing masks, leaving masks on the table, and holding hands. How are they expecting society to take Suga seriously when he vows to fight the pandemic if elected. This does not instill confidence at all.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

"...Nobuo Kishi, Abe's younger brother who was adopted by their aunt and uncle, will serve as the new defense chief."

Enjoy and appreciate democracy, true and Japanese quality.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

That looks like a mean gate ball team.

Its ok. They are quite distant and isolated from society.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

just what japan needs: young enthusiastic diverse leaders!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

And their plan for the future?

Well, raising taxes again has already been floated. Hey let's run the economy into the ground!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Most countries tend to run themselves with the leadership more or less ballast. Nowhere is this more true than in Japan. Disappointed though, in seeing Aso's name come up yet again. He is an international laughing stock and unless I'm very mistaken, not smart enough to run a local 7-11.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Look, they're all doing the "FIGHT-O!!!!" fist....

That's how you know those guys all mean business!

Aso is a just the best example of how far you can go in Japan if you have money.

the pic is truly pathetic and I think I must plan my family’s escape before the nappies need changing again (not my kid). The future looks bleak at the very least sad cos Japan could be amazing if it had some outside the box youth injected into but instead it will die slowly but not before all these old timers get their golden diapers filled.

@Lamilly

What a lot of ageists on here. What a lot of superficial people who think the way you look matters.

Yeah, tell me about it. I saw the same sort of thing on a few other comment sections as well. And these people are obviously forgetting the saying “With age comes wisdom“.

Come on, let’s focus on these guys’ policies and records, not something like age.

We NEED new and fresh blood pleeeeeeeeeeease.
