He (and the similarly idiotic Koike) had one whole year to prepare for this disaster and they've done nothing. People are dying at home, scare and alone becaue they can't find a hospital bed with someone to take care of them in their last moments. Europe has the excuse that it was surprised, but these two losers have absolutely no excuse. Are class actions against politicians possible? As these two belong in prison, and nowhere else!

That title goes to Shinzo Abe who ruined the Japanese economy, screwed up Covid-19 control in the early days, and brought the useless Olympics to Japan.

I don't see how the LDP doesn't throw him under the bus before the next election. They may carry the rural districts, but if the opposition parties can cooperate (no giggles, and no, it's not a certain thing), I think The large urban areas could see the LDP get swept from the board.

Suga burned all his bridges with the Yokohama power brokers who got him into politics in the first place. He's done now. Yokohama mayoral election was just the first nail being hammered into his coffin.

Of course he is -- because failure and incompetence are a prerequisite to becoming PM in Japan.

Let's see if he gets the support he will need from his own party. Enough members may be smart enough to realize that he will drag them down in general election. So, they may risk the fallout from the old guard and push for new leadership to appease the electorate.

Im not 100% sure why Suga san wants to run again. That would indicate that he has something to offer in the way of positive action for Japan. However, his words and his actions are completely opposite of each other. So, what can he do in the next term other than offer cheap talk?

Suga has done as fine a job as anyone could be expected to do under such difficult circumstances. Mistakes have bee made, but they can be learned from, and there is simply no substitute for experience.
