Thousands march in Tokyo to protest Myanmar military coup

Well, they got approval, so they can protest whatever cause they want. However, I highly doubt the Japanese government will change its policy towards Myanmar, and for sure the military junta couldn't care less.

we didnt see those protest when there was killing, imprisonment, displacement and violation of all human rights in Myanmar for years by extremist supported by the government....

We can express our opinions, about any country, wherever we are from, and especially if it affects family, friends etc.

But some Japanese have such xenophobe and narrow minded thinking,if you don’t like it our way then go home.

These people fail to comprehend that to criticize the system in a civilized and legal way is also a perfect way to improve them.

Its your choice to join the protest. But know that the Special Police will be taking your photo and gathering information as they do for all foreign protest groups. Just a warning.

I find it very interesting,they are ready to march for black lives matter and myamar and rightfully so but they almost never do the same for their corrupted politicians and all the injustice that they face in their country.

India has long made peace with the fact that the junta will be the power behind whoever sits on the throne. Inspite of the fact that Suu Kyi studied in India, India will not question the military's actions since they require the military's support to counter the insurgent groups operating along their shared border.

Segmentfault and Fighto, if I remember correctly, most of the visa status specifically prohibit engaging in any political activity in Japan (PR is probably different). Thus, I assume a foreigner living in Japan with a visa can legally join only a protest that Japan deems non-political.

Don't make chaos in Japan. Japan is a peaceful country. The political problem of your country is very old. Your leader Suki shared power with military in the past because she could not wait more from the out of power. Look at the greatest democratic leader Nelson Mendela. He was in prison for 27 years continue in an isolated island. Finally he became the icon of Democracy. But your leader Suki compromised with military just for enjoy power as soon as possible. So now result is coming.

Myanmar doesn't deserve this. I'm also not happy with the idea of China having more influence in that country.

Having ports in Myanmar would give China a huge advantage.
