"There's only one guest of honor ... I'm the guest of honor at the biggest event that they've had in over 200 years,"

"Prime Minister Abe said to me, very specifically, 'You are the guest of honor.' There's only one guest of honor ... I'm the guest of honor at the biggest event that they've had in over 200 years," Trump said.

First of all, biggest event in over 200 years? WTF is he talking about?

Second, what an egomaniac. Who likes this guy anyway?

I wish one of Trump's staff or the U.S. ambassador would tell him to pronounce Abe's name properly. He keeps calling him Abi.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

Our "very stable genius" will like the fact that this event is to crown a new king, he'll probably come back wanting his own coronation.

I agree wholeheartedly - in fact, I could see this;

Trump tours the Imperial Palace.....

Emperor: And this is my grandfather, Emperor Showa - he was considered a divine god, and everyone had to bow in his presence and do exactly as he ordered...

Trump: Really? That's what I want. Hey Kelly Ann, get in here - find out as much as you can about this divine god thing and bring everything back to DC - we'll use it for our next campaign...

MDTD 2020 - Make Donald Trump Divine....

Don't do anything to embarrass your self, your wife, or your country...we know that's impossible but try...

Don't say "I'm a stable genius" to everyone you meet...

No "grabbing" of the ladies...

Don't have a meltdown if someone says "it's cool out tonight, you better "cover-up"...

Don't say to the sumo wrestlers; "I bet Sarah Huckabee Saunders weighs more than you"...

Don't give Prime Minister Abe one of your ties made in China...

As long as Japan and the USA get stronger, I’m all good.

4 ( +13 / -9 )

I wish one of Trump's staff or the U.S. ambassador would tell him to pronounce Abe's name properly. He keeps calling him Abi.

Give it up. Trump can't properly pronounce a good deal of English. Don't expect him to master a single syllable of Japanese. It's too much for his stable genius mind.

I bet he will tell them to also ban anything that Huawei produces, and support him. He is gonna go all out to ban everything from China. Also, The European ain’t supporting him much on Iran issue, he will take this opportunity to seek assistance from Japan.

I'm the guest of honor at the biggest event that they've had in over 200 years

WW2 does not count compared to Trump watching Sumo?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

You’re the first foreign leader to have an audience with the new emperor Don’t ask during dinner “why are we having French?”

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Melania looks great!

I'm the guest of honor at the biggest event that they've had in over 200 years," Trump said.

Sounds like the orange genius is becoming less stable after crossing too many time zones into the future and then leaving his meds on Air-Force One, or is this verbal diarrhea another ominous symptom of Trump's pre-dementia as some have started to whisper?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Commiserations to Japan having such an unpleasant unintelligent oaf visiting you fine land. Very sorry for your new Emperor having to put up with his presence and needing to act like he is enjoying it. And sorry for Mr Abe having to suck up to the repugnant fellow. All of Japan will need a long hot shower once he leaves.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Trump is going to embarrass himself in Japan like he does with other international visits (and, really, let's face it, as he does everyday of his term). Everyone will cringe watching him be a buffoon and will praise Japan for being tolerant of the Imbecile in Chief. It's like watching your friend make a relationship mistake with a real loser - you smile, play nice and wait for it to end and hope the horror show doesn't go for too long.

Liberals are really salty these days. I am sure our President will have a wonderful visit. He was welcomed by the leader of this country so it’s not really much it your concern what he does here.

Au contraire. (Pardon my French.) It concerns ALL Americans, regardless of political ideology, what he does in Japan, or anywhere for that matter. It can be argued that it concerns Americans living in Japan even more so.

It's Memorial Day Weekend in America and Trump goes to Japan.

Our "very stable genius" will like the fact that this event is to crown a new king, he'll probably come back wanting his own coronation.

Japan has had a substantial edge for many, many years, but that’s OK, maybe that’s why you like us so much.

Love the tense look of the guy behind Trump as he utters this nonsense, probably begging it won't get worse.

Why is she holding his hand? That's just going to end up being Stormy

Really, Patricia! In what way?

Their biggest event in 200 years. I'm crying but not with laughter.

Meiji restoration?

1924 great Kanto earthquake?

WW2 And 2 nukes?

the list goes on.

anyone remember that minor quake and tsunami in 2011? And susequent triple meltdown?

I'd like to try some of whatever meds he's on.

Trump should visit Okinawa! We have great U.S. Military Golf Courses and in fact the U.S. Military Bases on Okinawa are more like Trump Resorts than Military Bases. Trump would feel right at home on a U.S. Military Base on Okinawa, he would think he had never left the United States!

Would it kill you to use her official title too? It's First Lady Melania Trump.

-1 ( +11 / -12 )

Welcome to Japan, Mr. President. Haters gonna hate.

-1 ( +17 / -18 )

What a fantastic President he has turned out to be. MAGA 2020!

-1 ( +15 / -16 )

I don't think I've ever seen such hatred toward a president. Most USA "news" channels admit it even, with an agenda to do anything to take President Trump down. Democrats too, wasting energy and tax payers' money doing nothing but trying to take him down. Hatred does indeed blind people. And only hurts the hater. Anyway, yes, President Trump, welcome to Japan!

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

Why should we use titles for either on of them? It is not our duty to be polite to the trumps!

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Taxpayers money put to good use!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Melania looks great

She always looks great.

Trump is going to embarrass himself in Japan

Dream on.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So let’s ruin the Japan-USA alliance too just because liberals don’t like Trump,

Don't have to - Donnie will ruin that on his own, just like everything else he does. The only Alliance he wants is one with Russia...

might as well give it up he is in the White House until 2024.

Change the White House to Leavenworth and you're right on the money...

I wish one of Trump's staff or the U.S. ambassador would tell him to pronounce Abe's name properly. He keeps calling him Abi.

Names of people like: Avi, Abby, Abi, etc. They are very common in the USA. That's why people in U.S. embassies or diplomatic places may lead to confusion when referring to someone with a similar name.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Welcome to Japan!

-3 ( +17 / -20 )

Welcome to Japan Trump! Please enjoy Sumo and an amazing golf game with your best foreign leader PM Abe Shinzo. It is no surprise that Japan is booming at unprecedented levels under PM Abe's rule, while Trump is President. They are so perfect together.

THANK YOU TRUMP!

The position Japan is in for the ongoing trade/tech war is very hard. Japanese companies have very close business relationships with sourcing in China and producing in America. That means a lot of Japanese guys are losing business chances due to their relationships with Chinese companies. Sad!

Also, Chinese tech/surveillance is insane and rapidly exceeding American applications. America has been researching the tech and China has been implementing the tech. At the current rate, China will far outpace the world with their cyber-tech. Japan's economic arms are being pulled in two directions over technological issues that are rapidly escalating into political issues at top levels.

These technological applications are handled very poorly by Japanese elite, who prefer to use fax machines and coins, while Chinese peasants use cashless payments and facial recognition for bank withdrawal.

Perhaps Abe and Trump will discuss these matters during this visit.

Perhaps Abe and Trump will discuss these matters during this visit.

China should be high on their discussion list. China’s surveillance state is reaching dystopian levels. I don’t see why the US and Japan cannot reach an open market free trade deal. It is certainly in Japan’s interests to open up towards the US given the peril of Chinese domination.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The American economy is doing great so many Americans are happy!

A trade war brews with China yet Japan has been given a pass to carry on as usual.

This might be unknown to the commentators on here but the Japanese elite know all too well how lucky that Japanese exporters have been.

Let’s just get this charade over with as quickly and painlessly as possible and hope that nothing too disastrous happens in the next few days.

As much as I cannot stand Trump nor his followers, I do think it’s important that Japan show due respect for the office (rather than the person).

After arriving at Haneda airport shortly after 5 p.m., Trump headed to the U.S. Embassy where he addressed Japanese business leaders, including Toyota Motor Corp President Akio Toyoda and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son.

Trump: Well, it's great being here in Beijing....what? Oh, I mean Tokyo.... Mr Toyoda, aren't your cars named Toyota? What's up with that? You should follow my business model - everything Trump - even our Trump line of Port-O-Potties. Maximize the name.... Mr Son? Who's son are you? Same mistake - your company should be named Son instead of Softbank...

The two men share a warm relationship, which the Japanese leader aims to emphasize as Washington mulls tariffs on Japanese auto exports that the Trump administration views as a potential national security threat.

I like you Shinjo, but I have to tell you, Kim Jong Un and I are "in love"....sorry.....

Trump will become the first foreign leader to be received by new Japanese Emperor Naruhito since he inherited the throne earlier this month. He made clear during an impromptu news conference on Thursday that he was flattered by the invitation. "Prime Minister Abe said to me, very specifically, 'You are the guest of honor.' There's only one guest of honor ... I'm the guest of honor at the biggest event that they've had in over 200 years," Trump said.

Yes, yes, yes - me, me, me... Me, the stable genius, the Guest of Honor. I love being King....

"So it's a great thing. And we get along very well with Japan. I get along very well with the Prime Minister."

Yes, this "thing"...it's a great "thing"...the absolute best "thing" - never better. And that's coming from a stable genius...

Clippity: Me me me me me me me mememememe.....

American presidents have been very self aggrandizing recently. Obama’s speeches were always drenched with “I”. Like Trump he never tired of focusing on himself. I suppose with identity politics becoming so entrenched in the US now it’s become increasingly difficult for Americans to relate to one another as “We”.

At least we have the First Lady as a distraction. Melania is beautiful to look at. The new Empress is certainly a fine looking and accomplished woman.

Looking forward to more of Abe’s sand trap gymnastics out on the golf course.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

She might me your First Lady not she's not mind.

I understand, I felt the same way about the previous President.
