Welcome Trump and Mrs Trump! The Abe Cabinet could not have chosen a better person to have the honor of being first foreigner to meet the new Emperor. Enjoy the Sumo action, Trump!

The Abe Cabinet could not have chosen a better person to have the honor of being first foreigner to meet the new Emperor.

Oh, I could think of a few thousand.

"The fact that Japan will host President Trump and his wife as the first state guests under the new era of Reiwa (to start under the new emperor) symbolizes the bond under the unwavering Japan-U.S. alliance"

It shows that Abe is Trump's pet, nothing else.

Abe has built close personal ties with Trump, putting priority on strengthening the long-standing bilateral security alliance through a series of face-to-face talks and telephone conversations.

Fake news. Abe's nose is so brown Akie mistook it for chocolate. One right winger toadying up to another right winger who's perfectly happy to watch this country fully remilitarize is not news. Sadly, even Obama did nothing as the stage was set for this lurch backwards--in fact, his hawkish administration pulled the rug out from under Minshuto for having the temerity to question their status as a vassal state.

Will trump go to the famous Ginza sushi restraunt, Obama went to on tax payers expenses.

Trump settled for burgers, which is realistic, Obama had to obtain freebies like 5 star course sushi tallying ¥35,000

Trump doesn't settle for burgers. It's the only thing he eats. Among his long list of deficiencies, he's a culinary xenophobe.

The Japanese may soon rue the day they invited a person with such low moral standards to meet the Emperor, especially if in future Trump turns out to be an indicted felon.

This is politics, not religion.

To be fair, I don’t know if Trump has the kind of stomach I have. I used to travel abroad quite a bit for work, and I always stuck with what I knew because my stomach is very irritable. When I travel abroad for pleasure, I take more risks.

i wonder how you say “no collusion, no obstruction” in Japanese.

@Kenji--Obama ate at Jiro's, the only five star restaurant in the world? But the Michelin restaurant rating system only goes up to three stars. Don't forget that Obama only had room for a half portion of the sushi too. But the thing about ripping off taxpayers---Jiro pays taxes too, and he wasn't getting ripped off, so there's that. Just like how Trump and Abe will be making a nice fat transfer of tax funds to the Japan Sumo Association when they buy a block of tickets. I hope they get some souvenir cushions out of it at least.

I hope he tries some sushi this time!

...and eats it with a fork right in front of all the cameras, chewing with his mouth open, just so I can watch you all squirm.

U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will visit Japan from May 25 to 28, making them the first state guests to meet with the country's new emperor, the Japanese and U.S. governments said.

And every American cringes as this impostor and clown visits Japan and makes a fool of himself and embarrasses our country.

Trump to Emperor: "I learned a lot about Japan as a child - by watching all the Godzilla movies...you guys keep him in a zoo or something? I'd like to see him while I'm here..."

I hope he can remember the differences between "origins" and "oranges" while here...just look in the mirror Donnie - what's looking back at you is "orange"...

"intended to showcase the closeness of the two countries' ties," The ties between Washington and Japan is the Japan is still, after 70 years, under US occupation and controlled by Washington. When will Abe get some self respect?

It shows that Abe is Trump's pet, nothing else.

The whole entire world is Trump’s pet as well as his oyster.

I couldn’t agree more. Love our President!

I hope he takes off the top part of the sushi with his bare hands and eats it before throwing away the rice on the bottom. Just so I can hear liberals scream that this is an impeachable offense.

Puppeteer & puppet. Who holds the strings?

Abe & Trump; two of modern history's dumbest dinosaurs who fail in everything they do apart from enriching themselves and their friends.

Whatever it is, I'm sure Trump'll mangle it. He has a hard enough time with English.

Maybe he'll learn to pronounce "Abe" correctly at some point. But, I won't bet a yen on it.

See you at the protests!

Good manners dictates not to cause offense to your host. In Morocco, a guest will be honored by killing a sheep and a meal prepared with couscous. The eyes of the animal are given to the guest and to refuse is a blatant insult.

Quite so, and in my opinion, Abe's handlers can read that Trump is not a "cultured" man, and will do their best to avoid putting Trump in any situation where he would either embarrass himself or Abe.

Which means, room service!

give trump some Ika or Tako, RAW.

How about a Tanuki steak.

A Whale meat burger. A horse meat burger.

A double beef burger using New Zealand beef. Trump hates New Zealand.

I trust you're in the habit of having the brass neck to behave the same way yourselves.
