A push that will be resisted, opposed, denied and circumvented by China and Russia. Nothing has really changed since 1950 except that North Korea now has more toys and is a greater threat than before.

Just hand out the nukes to Japan and South Korea.

It shall never happen, especially in these days when the Israeli army inflicting high Palestinian casualties and America as usual veto the call of cease fire. The whole world hates America instead of North Korea. And of course, Russia and China gained very much support from many countries, they are laughing the handicapped Biden administration now!

Of course, are they stupid enough to let US,South Korean army take over the entire North Korea? The NATO eastward was Russia's stupid enough let it happened. And China ..... The don't want the Chinese matyr's blood they spilled on that land gone in vain !

No they don’t. There are plenty of people who don’t like either, but most of the world is aware that NK adds nothing of benefit for anyone… except maybe Russians receiving weapons and ammunition.

Sadly this is going to happen. The dictator saw what happened to the last dictator who gave up the bomb! Colonel Gadaffi! They also saw what happened to the Iraqi dictator who supposedly had the bomb but didn’t. So I think the best we can do is contain their ambitions, and make sure they don’t cross the border into South Korea because we’ve never seen two nuclear power go directly to war.

Gooooood Luck, no one will listen after watching what is Happening in Gaza.
The new world order is beginning to show it's UGLY side where women, children, and babies lives means NOTHING.
NK will NOT give up it's toys for anything, it is it's only option and without it will become another GAZA.

NK is on the US's payroll. Has been since the Korean War. US weapons manufacturers need a country to scare Japan into buying defense weapons.

Sure. More fingers on the button, that always turns out well. Both Japan and SK have the ability to make their own bombs if that is their goal. They "CHOOSE" not to.
Taiwan could make their own nukes too. That seems a more reasonable place that actually needs them to hold China back. With nukes, Taiwan could declare absolute independence and press for recognition around the world. I'd love to see Xi's face when he is told that Taiwan has nukes and they are pointed only in 1 direction. Pucker up.
elephant200, I don't know what world you are living in. Even China doesn't like Russia right now, much less other countries. They are putting up with Putin because they don't have any choice. Even Belarus is only appearing to like Russia because the dictator there is fearful of being overthrown. If you look at the "-Stans", they don't like being under Russia's thumb, but that's their lot due to history and geography.
Make no mistake, all country-to-country relations are about trying to get the best deal from others as you can. Countries often hold meetings with leaders from other countries who they despise to apply pressure to the other "side", who they'd rather work with, but who may have disengaged due to a former loser-in-charge.

Honestly, they will never back down. North Korea need to protect its frontier from Mongolia, China, South Korea, USA. Japan is just the easy target to not make enemy on their side of the wall.
I don’t think they will attack Japan. They would be hit immediately by Moscou to avoid any nuclear contagion strike. This is mainly dissuasion. You get the bomb to never use it.
The most dangerous bomb bearer is still Israel who is on this side on the wall, admit they have it and still refuse international control on them. They are the worse risk of atomic terrorism on this planet actually.
North Korea use Japan. This doesn’t mean they will attack Japan. Understand « dissuasion » concept.

America just concerning the safety of one country only: Israel. The reasons everyone knows. Does any US president ever caring South Korea? No, of course not. The North Koreans sunken a South Korean frigate with torpedo in 2010. N.K. got away with it, these kind of minor conflicts happened many times. N.K. also blown up a S.K. airline in 1980s, they always got away and one of the recent US president eager to meet "K.J." three times and praised him !

@Mark: You know why US suddenly brought up the N.K. nuclear issue? Because the middle east heated up in an all out war and she still veto any UN resolution of ceasefire. She need to divert the global frustrations. Screaming: Wolf, Wolves is the easiest way !

We are left to ponder how much of this is related to Mount Paektu.
And the Mount Paektu Research Center (aka, MPRC). Which is an international partnership designed to promote “collaborative geoscience and environmental research” inside NoRK. An effort largely supported and funded by the UK government, which has long maintained a policy of ‘critical engagement’ with North Korea. So much so that the UK has planned a MPRC office in Pyongyang, to be called the Mount Paektu Science Exchange, the first international science office and laboratory in country. With an ultimate goal of “sharing knowledge and experience of what it takes to build lasting and effective collaboration.”
Problems become evident within the exchange of both equipment and technology, inside the program. Both in what has already been supplied, and what is still to come. At last glance, almost two dozen export licenses have been submitted for approval, to support this work, to get around the sanctions already in place. Some of this equipment has already been deemed ‘dual-use,’ in that it has important application in military equipment and weapons technology. Some sensitive equipment, in the form of broadband seismometers, have already been supplied to North Korea, for it’s sole and unmonitored use around the mountain.
The mountain has already brought international scientists to the hermit country, through exchange fellowships, for research and exchanges of information and technology. And plans for much more in the future.
Which brings us back to pondering how much of the equipment and technology that is flowing to North Korea, in the name of including them in international science, and engaging them, is instead being used to further their self-announced and all-too-obvious aggressive military intentions?

We don't have data post Oct. 7, but it was absolutely the opposite situation before that. How long do you expect the world to care about Palestine?
Yes we know that China and Russia are lawless countries that really want to see all of East Asia with nukes.
There was plenty of deterrence with NK's two nuclear backers.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Under UN mandate.
That was more chemical and biological weapons, but it is supposed to be the UNSC's mission to make sure countries don't get WMD.

I'm sure it would help if they had plans from tested systems and development and delivery systems. Not saying it is a good thing for the world but with NK having unilaterally changed the status quo, it may be the best thing for the countries involved.
I believe China has said it will be go time if there is the suspicion that Taiwan is getting nukes or has them delivered to it.

Keep trying, nothing will change..

The US sanctioned India when it exploded its first nuke and went on to develop a nuclear arsenal. Now Uncle Sam is best buds with Uncle Modi.
It's interesting to see how the USA rules change over time.

Garbage regimes like NK belong under sanction for their human rights record alone. Since China and Russia don't give a darn about that, violating the NPT is the next best thing.
