Can't be right. Japan is an 'ally'.

It's time Japan made a break from the US regime. No need to declare war but no need to have US troops occupying Japan either. Kick them all out! Economically speaking, China is much more important.

See what happened to Yukio Hatoyama when he tried to expel Americans from Okinawa.

The same thing will happen but much worse if anyone dares not to use the USD for transactions. See Iraq and Lybia.

What currency manipulation is Japan carrying out? It was USD 110 to the JYen in April 2019. Fell to 108 soon after and never rose despite the pandemic. It's the USD that's been kept weak.

It is worthy to note that after US printed trillions of dollars out of thin air, the value of dollar remained basically flat since 2018

NK is also printing them in the billions and sell much cheaper on the dark web.

the world will stop trading in US dollars exclusively in around two years. Wise to think about your currency portfolio now.

Why Japan cant trade in JPY instead of US$?

it does like the US Japan owns it own currency , but the US is saying we can do what we want with our currency print as much as we like to help our economy, but Japan cant

It doesn’t play a too big role in this specific case, because the two countries are allies and in economic symbiosis. If the Yen is intentionally made cheap, the Japanese have to work more, can export more and are kindly forced to buy with that money more american goods and military supply. That’s for phases like now, with corona effects , other health issues like fentanyl abuse , mass shootings, society division like BLM, Trump-Biden followers and such, that all are slowing the american economy. And one day sooner or later everyone wakes up from that comatose in the U.S. , wants to make big money and work hard more healthily, with some promising future prospects in the eyes. In that phase they will produce and export, making intentionally the dollar weaker to support the export , the yen becomes stronger and the Japanese side has now more severe economic and social problems, but getting the one or other support from the US patrons. Like two shifted sine curves, you know...

if the US can prints $10s trillion of since 2008 GFC and probably even more now in 2020 2021 aka monetary easing, then why cant Japan. Sorry US doesnt have a pot to pee in when pointing the finger at currency manipulation. Japan is the one with the problem of deflation. Monetary easing may not be the direct reason for currency manipulation but it produces a similar result

Japanese yen is now 108 to a dollar while it was bought up to 79 yen in 2012. America manipulated Japanese yen to weaken Japanese exports in years around 2012.

No doubt Japan is offended by this and asking why they aren't being made a special exception.

As for China I have no idea but if the issue is trade imbalance then this is an issue of the U.S.' own making.

Maybe if you had listened to Trump speak over the last 5 years instead of relying on the media to tell you what he said.

@Paul

You are correct. As an American my first reaction to this was to laugh.

The United States (particularly the Federal Reserve) needs to take a hard look in the mirror on this issue. I laughted very hard when I read thisOne must also remember in 2019 (pre Covid) when the Fed was pumping 10s or 100s of millions of dollars per month into the U.S. equity market. They also bought another 4 trillion worth of treasuries. The recent spending is equally unhinged.

The result of all of this devaluation of the dollar and people in the U.S. are now seeing the results unfortunately in inflation (which hurts the middle class and poor much more than the wealthy).

It sounds like the biggest complaint against Japan was Japan's trade surplus which I think is hardly a result of any currency manipulation by Japan. As for China I have no idea but if the issue is trade imbalance then this is an issue of the U.S.' own making.

Same here

Fair enough. Would like to see Biden go after countries that allow Google, Facebook etc. to pay zero taxes ...

It is worthy to note that after US printed trillions of dollars out of thin air, the value of dollar remained basically flat since 2018... So what it means is that the influx of all that cash since 2020 had no real impact on the value of the dollar. I would call that strange at the best and fraud at the worst.
