The last Japanese leader to visit the United States as a state guest was former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2015 during the administration of President Barack Obama.

Appropriate since Abenomics and "New Capitalism" are just variations on American neo-liberalism that has held sway for the last 60 years.

Both wings of the American duopoly subscribe to it ( except for some outliers like Bernie and the Squad in the States and the Reiwa and Communist parties in Japan) as well as the one-party LDP monopoly.

And in both nations it has led to ballooning wealth in the rentier class and a downward spiral for workers.

A letter was sent to the speaker on Tuesday, according to former U.S. ambassador to Japan Republican Sen William Hagerty, who with Democratic Sen Mazie Hirono led the campaign with the support of 27 other members of the chamber.

The only effects of Kishida's visit will be the carbon footprint and the deficit.

He has been summoned by the bosses. It's a master-servant type deal you see and when they say 'jump', Kishida replies 'how high?'.

It's a shame when we don't recognize kind gestures to strengthen global relationships.

Two clowns on one stage. One from Japan, and one from the USA. I wonder if these two nations will still be countries. This should be very entertaining.

if anything, then the cannon fodder will already be ready for certain geopolitical upheavals

All I hear about these days is "" North Korea's rapid development of missile capabilities and China's military aggressiveness in the region.""

And I have yet to see a single missile his any one or a single bullet kill anyone, all the HOT rhetoric coming out of ALL side is NOTHING but talk and red meat for the local audiences of each nation.

China has yet to attack, Occupy, or colonialize anyone in fact it's the opposite, what needs to be done is we elect a new leadership that can TALK instead of spreading fear and panic.

lol. Does he think that will help him? When you go back channel and ask for an invitation to try to show your someone when your really a no one is quite sad. Why would the US offer an invitation to a leader who has their approval rating in the 20’s now? I’m sure the US is looking beyond him or celebrating his total lack of governance.

He has been invited because he leads America's closest ally in the Western Pacific. Nobody from your country would ever be invited so it doesn't conern you.

Oh dear! I guess Kishida will be the next Zelensky, and Japan the next Ukraine...

Ukraine doesn't have a defense treaty with the US. Japan does. The dictator experience of causing trouble may be different with those two...

Why!?

Usually foreign leaders address Congress when a war is brewing...

Favored allies address Congress, too. Nothing requiring a war about it.

The only address I want to hear from Kishida begins and ends with, "I hereby resign as Prime Minister and a member of the Diet."

This is a live one : The Muppet Show !

When someone pulling the strings, the Muppet will dance, singing and throwing their arms up in the air and hooray for whatever as the script was pre-written. I don't know what the feelings are the Japanese audiences watched. Maybe a very unpresent one!

It was definitely a good thing for not being invited to such an embarrassing forum of the world's most hated and depised place!
