In other words, they want free weapons deliveries and some quite good pocket money into their accounts. lol

let them solve their own issues and leave Japan out of it.

Japan has enough to deal with on its homeland than get involved with Ukrainian problems.

5 ( +17 / -12 )

Ukraine, let's at least use honest terminology. You are not asking Japan to "do more to ease tensions" but "more to coerce Russia" into letting you deploy NATO troops right to their borders.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

Keep Japan out of it, better still, keep the rogue state of the USA out of it.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky said Wednesday he wants Japan to get more involved

You mean Japan is involved now?

How?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Japan is an absolute minnow when it comes to world diplomacy. And in the eyes of Russia, even less than a minnow; an amoeba, perhaps?

3 ( +19 / -16 )

Japan can be part of an international effort, but might not have much impact on the discussion. As Europe is standing against Russia, it is going more like an East-West opposition

3 ( +9 / -6 )

I really fail to see what on earth Japan, on the other side of the world, can possibly bring to the table here. This is hysterical nonsense from the Ukrainian ambassador.

Biden, Blinken and the Democrats are out of control; less than a year after winning the election the Corrupt Warmongers are attempting to start yet another war against a country that won't allow the US to exploit its natural resources for the profit of American corporations

I believe Alfie has hit the nail squarely on its head!

2 ( +12 / -10 )

Japan has enough of its own territorial issues with China and Korea and Russia and in my opinion should not get involved with the Ukraine issue !

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Whether Japan is part of this group or not really makes little or no difference at all, given that Japan doesn't really carry any diplomatic weight.

This is really the crux of the matter regarding Japan's influence, regardless of how one feels about the Ukraine-Russia conflict, itself.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I think the Ukrainian issue is basically a conflict between two rival regions within the country -- a kind of civil war between the pro-NATO western region and pro-Russian eastern region. Ukrainian politics is now in control of the pro-NATO faction.

Ukraine used to be a member of the Soviet Union, so that Russian President Vladimir Putin may think it's unbearable to see Ukraine part from Russia and become a NATO nation.

US-backed neo-Nazis in Ukraine asking for Japanese support in a US/UK sponsored NATO aggression against Russia?

Comedy gold. What's Kishida going to say?

The EU nations states, must take full responsivity!!!!!!!

Germany and France!!!!!

Instead of appeasing the aggressor.....

1 ( +5 / -4 )

problem is caused by recent Kiev government.all they need is to to take a seat with people from Lugansk and Donetsk and communicate, discuss issues and look into solutions.

There is no need to involve Japan or any other country as they need solve their internal country problem.

we hardly hear Ukrina on our news but today I heard its name for the first time on our news. I did not know whether or not a relationship between Russia and Ukraine is good, but I believe Japan never interact in this situation.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

US-backed neo-Nazis in Ukraine asking for Japanese support in a US/UK sponsored NATO aggression against Russia?

Indeed. The MSM hardly mentions the neo-Nazi element and how USA is cozying up to them. The Nazi flag has been seen around Ukraine and it's not a pretty sight. USA has been stirring up trouble in Ukraine since the 1990s after it initially promised NATO would not expand. And asking Japan to help is like asking a child to chair an AA meeting.

Ukraine envoy wants Japan to do more to ease tensions:

How much can Japan do?

What more will Japan be able to do?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Japan can block russian money, and stopped investing in russian. Do not buy products from russia.

Average japanese people:"Ukraine? What is it?Is it some sort of foods?"

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I fear that the Japanese leadership will falsely think that trying to get Putin to face reality concerning Ukraine will diminish Japan's chances of getting back the Chishima islands that the USSR seized at the end of World War II.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@Tomchon

Don't expect anything from Japan. They'll only support countries where the money lies. Right now, Japan needs to suck up to Russia to try and steal the Kurils from them. And supporting Ukraine won't help that goal. So forget it.

Does Russia return 4 islands depending on Japan's correspondence? NEVER.

So how come does Japan have to suck up to Russia? Huh?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Ukraine envoy is not seriously beyond the political urge for the Russian Federation to negotiate a peace accord, suggesting Japan government supply a military capability?

What Putin is afraid of are not being surrounded by NATO but by democratic countries

^ This ^ MIC pulls the the strings just like Eisenhower predicted.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

This is not Japan's problem. We have enough of our problems here. Furthermore, I very much doubt Japan knows less of the full story than anyone. Japan will enter clueless and exit clueless, having neglected problems at home, mainly the pandemic.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Weird how many pro-Russia/Putin supporters are here in the comments sections of JT. Yet, lots of PRC/Xi hat. The latter, of course, being understandable. But...

They both suck. They're both dictators. They're both horrible people. And, as such, they both deserve equal animosity.

Is it only when it comes to world diplomacy? Otherwise what are you infesting minnow or even amoeba?

 slime molds perhaps?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What can Japan do ???.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Ukraine used to be part of the Soviet Union together with Belarus and thirteen other Soviet republics. Since the Soviet Union spearheaded by Moscow organized the Warsaw Pact against NATO, Ukraine was naturally an integral part of the WPO.

However, it now wants to be a member of NATO, an erstwhile antagonist. What's happened to the country since the collapse of the Soviet Union?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Ukraine wants to aline with the western countries instead of Russia because there will be more benefits from it.

Do the western countries want to align with Ukraine? I would ask Poland first.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Japan does not care. Actually. What doesn't the world not get about Japan?

Agreed

Ukraine is a cry wolf party here.

Minorities who are living in Ukraine do to historical misfortunes cannot even use their own language for studying.

Ukraine is a highly nationalist country provoking all of their neighbors with strict assimilation laws for the minorities.

The press never talks about this.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Ukraine is GAME to you?!?!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Japan should support Ukraine. If no one stand up against Russian aggression, then it sends a message that Russia are free to attack more countries and they could easily take more islands from Japan. Habomai and Shikotan would never be returned. China is also watching what happens, because if no one lifts a finger when Russia invades Ukraine, then China will for sure attack Taiwan and take Senkaku islands.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

The UKRAINE. And Washington's War Pig Clique. "The greatest argument against U.S. support for military action of any kind in Ukraine is the inerrant incompetence of its missions and the consistent record of destabilizing areas of strategic interest through its involvement..."

The Ukraine treated as a pawn nation from the start, backing a series of leaders who shamelessly looted the country before forcing them into a miserable Sophie’s Choice, about which the American public still knows little.

The ostentatious incompetence of the foreign policy establishment, which America got to examine in technicolor during the War on Terror, was one of the first triggers for the revolt against “experts” that led to the election of Donald Trump. Once, these were drawling Republican golfers who got hot reading Francis Fukuyama, thought they could turn Baghdad into Geneva, and instead squandered trillions and hundreds of thousands of lives pushing Iraq back to the eighth century.

The more recent crew is made up of Extremely Online, Ivy-educated fantasists who rarely leave their embassies abroad and view life as an endless production of Sloane or The Good Fight, soap operas about exclusive clubs of fashionably brainy pragmatists with the guts to color outside the lines and “get things done.” Lines like “Yats is our guy” make them tingly. This is perhaps the only subset of people on earth arrogant and dumb enough to think there’s a workable plan for pulling off a shooting war with Russia."

With a GDP on a par with South Korea, Russia does not have the resources to conduct a prolonged war against the democracies. The Russian dictator can have the Russian military run amok for a short while, and then he will be thoroughly embarrased. The sad thing is that so many people will have to suffer because of one man's megalomania.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Ukraine isn't a legitimate country ATM, it's remote controlled by the CIA. Which is doing everything to provoke Russia for the war.

And the Americans will be first to flee from the scene when Putin pulls the trigger

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Japan has some experience with war, territorial acquisition, losing territory, and false flags (Manchuria Incident), so perhaps it could be some help on both sides.

-3 ( +9 / -12 )

What can Japan do?

Japan's GDP is the third largest in the world, ahead of any of the European countries, and three times the GDP of Russia. Russia's GDP is mostly dependent on exporting oil, since they make almost nothing domestically.

Japan is a sleeping giant. When it wakes up, the world will have to pay attention.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Perhaps Japan should hold some naval “exercises” in Japanese and international waters off the Russian occupied islands as most of the Russian forces in the east are now either in or on their way to western Russia!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

We believe that Japan can play a very important role in that Japan is the only G-7 country" in Asia, he added.

yes. It’s right for Japan to take some actions as a leader in Asia.

Unfortunately as long as Kishida stays as a prime minister , nothing will be done. Cannot be expected. He’s just focused on how he can win the election coming this July and keep higher his approval rate.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

... only the US has a right to interfere in other countries elections.

American "exceptionalist" history will confirm the above while the Japanese are completely out of the loop and totally irrelevant to East European geo-politics and can only kibitz from the Far East while Putin pushes his pawns forward... Kiev or bust?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Because of America - Russia will backdown and that will save a lot of lives. Because of America many more lives were saved in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Oman, and Syria in past years.

Russia is not going to attack The Ukraine because as you all know, America will always stop the bad actors no matter who it is.

American politics can be tricky, however saving lives in Russia and The Ukraine is paramount.
