No more political flip-flopping from SK. It's about time these two countries got on with each other. They have a hell of a lot in common. And share the same regional problems (nasty reds)
Yoon is from the conservative pro-US party in other words the Korean version of the LDP (it was also installed by the US), so Yoon and Kishida should get on fine.
I hope this works. Ignore the past and focus on the future. It's the only way things will workout in a peaceful way. No more wars unless it's needed to save the world from dictators.
Japan would do well to focus on the Korean Peninsula in these discussions. Yoon has walked back every pre-election "promise" about confronting China. Japan and South Korea are neighboring countries and should have friendly relations.
there should be daily flights, Yoon visiting Japan and Kishida visiting South Korea on alternating days. then the "great eater moron" from the north would launch a missile a day and run out of money for his caviar and that would be the end of him
Things are moving well. I don't doubt that there will be obstacles but I firmly believe the Yoon administration can overcome them. The bigger obstacle for Pres Yoon is his domestic political opponents who are fanning the anti-JPN rage against him, rather than co-operation from Kishida. But Kishida also faces skepticism and distrust as a result of the previous Moon administrations behavior. Good luck to them both. Kim and Xi can take a hike.
Hence the ludicrous propaganda campaign from the state-affiliated media trumpet Kyodo. Every story says exactly the same thing....
I bet Yoon has read "Anti-Japan tribalism" and got to know how SKorean 60years+ historical education has been polluted by lies piled up on lies.
[ Yoon Suk Yeol became the first South Korean president to visit Japan in 12 years on Thursday, in a step towards repairing a relationship strained by history and rebuilding cooperation in the face of North Korea's frequent missile launches.
Yoon and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are expected to present a united front against growing regional tension and discuss cooperating on supply chains. In doing so, they look to leave behind years of animosity sparked by Japan's 1910-1945 occupation of the Korean peninsula.
Tokyo and Seoul are also expected to revive "shuttle diplomacy" of regular visits between the leaders, according to a Yomiuri daily report citing Japanese government sources. ]
Things are definitely going in the right direction. :)
What does Japan has to profit from this? Ok, South and North Korea are not friends, and neither are ROC and PRC (I am not going to blame a certain country for stirring up those problems). But Japan is not really an enemy of any of these neighbors.
Unless you, as one of just posters here without any ties with SK, please look out for the development carefully from now on. I bet you would be disappointed with SK's fake agitations for all these years.
Japan is not at war with NK, only SK and USA. We should stay out of it.
American are not in the business of baby sitting insecure foreign leaders, they better base their policies in their abilities to defend themselves, South Korea has took the step, not like Japan, because the American people generally do not care,if they are not personal threatened

It's guaranteed when the opposition takes power in 4 years. Japan may flip as little as in one year, when the final asset liquidation order by the Supreme Court is issued(The only legally possible outcome)
They(Japanese and Koreans) don't see themselves having anything in common, only the racist Americans unable to distinguish see the common.
History is vividly alive and well in Korea. Only Japan forgot.
Yoon can't because his plan is not legally binding and forced laborers can ignore them and continue the liquidation. More Mitsubishi asset seizure and liquidation lawsuit filed, now going after cash holdings.
Yoon doesn't read books at all. You overestimate the man. He likes to drink, go home early, and come to work late, that's all.
Japan and Korea are like brothers. They fight because they think they're different, without realizing they're both very, very, VERY similar to each other.
The problem here is that the one brother wants to move forward and put the past in the past, and the other brother cannot drop the bitterness.
@Awa no Gaijin Your comments seems to never get any support LOL they seem to have nothing to do with the topic or they are so far off anybody reasonable imagination. Its very evident look at the number of thumbs down votes on the comment!
I disagree !
Ukraine and Russia conflict has absolutely nothing to do with China and Taiwan issues.
A total over-exaggerating excuse to end Japan's pacifist constitution and the west challenge of China.
