So?

It's called business. Which means subsidized employment. Artificial flowers. Like the experience you have with your computer. Think about the crops of the future. Only so much room in Japan. Better than just owning U.S. golf courses. Sometimes I forget..does Disney own Sony, or... How bout Village Roadshow?

So?

It's a fun bit of trivia, and I appreciate him/her pointing it out.

How many billions is he going to pledge on this visit?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Now that the U.S is back in business with them, Japan is too!

Surely Abe would be better off spending all these billions at home - maybe try stimulate the economy by spending it on better services or just giving it to the needy here.

Shouldn't be any surprise here! Japan always 2 steps behind the US.

Why does the headline read LEADER instead of PRIME MINISTER?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Yes, why is he lending Cuba billions of yen that Japan does not have? I'd like to think I will have a pension when I retire in 30 years.

I heard they exchanged ideas on how to screw up each others economies...

What is the problem these days with reading comprehension? Reading the articles BEFORE commenting helps to keep egg off of one's face.

Here too....read the following, from the article.

Japan has a long history of trade with Cuba, importing seafood, tobacco and coffee while exporting machinery.

yes, Cuba can help...nice try, Mr.Abe!

Yubaru: you can say the "Japan following the US" comment is wrong if you like, but keep in mind this historic visit falls on the heels of the historic visit by Obama, so it's not that off-the-wall to point out this is all coming about the way it is with the US trying to normalize ties and restart business with Cuba. If they've been such good and long trading allies, why only visit now? And why only forgive the debt now? It's not just -- if at all -- about NK, because Abe is more of a moron than I thought if he thinks Cuba is going to do anything beyond taking Japan's money, smiling, and making generic statements like, "world peace would be nice".

Cubwill stop selling out of dated missile to N K now. Trading chance with Japan is more attractive. Their Cigar had been

castro is an expert on nuclear weapons, thats why abe seeks his advice, of course. fyi: cuba has been secretly sending to nk outdated soviet weaponry; a ship was caught transporting some crappy old POS fighter jet crossing the panama canal. it was so embarrassing and ridiculous. and now abe meets with the mastermind behind such stupidity, that same guy who has oppressed cubans for years.

Obama is trying to have better relation with Cuba and Abe is following that. But Abe has some advantage than USA. I think old missile Russia sold to Cuba may still exist, but that is not a Cuban interest. Advantage of Japan is Japan has no record of plotting assassination. Cuba was richest in S. America but US made Cigar ill, eegal and sweeteners replaced Suger. Still doing fine with casino business. US hated its communism. Robert Kennedy began recruiting Chicago Maiko as Castro assassination team. But Mad SamGiancana who owned Casinos. in Cuba refused Kennedy. Rumor of Kennedy. Was all over in Nevada,,, then Castro survived.

I'm sure Abe's thinking "the world will see that Japan is doing all it can to ease the NK nulcear threat without the use of force". Lmao, Castro? Cuba?!?!

There are many Japanese corporations in S America and S Africa. Cuba was left out from growth of other counties. With Economic ties with Japan, it can scrap missile if it still. own. Japanese private companies are also itchy.

This is very funny for Abe-san!

He should go to North Korea and talk with Kim Juung Un!

Hope Fidel will be able to arrange Abe and Kim meeting in neutral area. Probably Xi as the mediator.

Hope Fidel will be able to arrange...

Fidel has pretty much nothing to do with running Cuba anymore. He's old and feeble. His brother Raul is the one running Cuba now.

I was writing about Fedel arrange meeting. Never wrote running Cuba.
