Grow a pair and go for the anniversary event.

There is no need to go event itself. The most important thing is to maintain good relations with any countries in the world.

Yeah – that'll happen.

A good idea. Setting up the meeting would predicate setting up the agenda of the meeting.

And that would mean a lot.

September is cold

****Why the negative vibe surrounding Abe?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

I think it will depend on what abe says in Aug & whether China will even entertain the idea!

Among other things, Abe better tell Xi to do something about all that illegal construction work in coastal areas. The latest thing is China's making of a new deep-sea platform in the East China Sea, within Japan's air defense identification zone just off of Okinawa. Somehow Abe must get China to put the brakes on such scary projects.

@Daniel Hopkins

****Why the negative vibe surrounding Abe?

It's just something on the troll army script. They don't really know why either.

He's just another boring, mildly conservative politician who they've decided to blame personify as all that is bad about Japan.

They seem to forget that in a couple of years there'll just be another boring, mildly conservative politician from some other political dynasty in his place, and then they will have to start their campaign all over again.

The people who don't like him are pretty clear on it. You must not be reading their posts very well.

Strangerland - are you talking about the posts on this particular thread??

Daniel Hopkins: "****Why the negative vibe surrounding Abe"

Do you really need to ask? Strangerland is bang on -- the people who dislike him, and they are many and growing, do so for very clear, very well-established purposes. Just yesterday the man was telling people that they are wrong and history will prove him right in pushing forward national security bills and changes to the reading of the constitution that no one wants. In fact, he's starting to get concerned about it and is calling for early votes on it -- same as he called for early votes to be re-elected because he KNEW that doing what he is doing now would be unpopular and the opposition might have a chance to build up actual opposition if the election were held when it was supposed to be. That's just for starters. This visit to China? strictly lip-service to try and improve popularity since it is faltering. He'll be laughed at by China, but will say their answer is proof that we need to rearm Japan and allow it to war so that we can isolate China, etc.

That's just for starters. Forget about all the denials of historical events and white-washing.

As if China is about to listen to a minion of the US empire.

Abe considering China visit in September

That would depend on what kind of speech he makes next month, won't it?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

smithinjapan,

But China does need a kick up the backside for its aggression in Japanese territory...

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

No it doesn't

0 ( +1 / -1 )

China does seem to be probing and provoking all it's neighbors by making claims on and invading their territorial waters to see how what it can get away with.

At what point will a smack on the nose be the only language it understands?

Or will it grow up before something happens?

Cause they can. China's military keeps growing, especially as each fiscal year allows boosts in more cash flow into china's military.

My, my, how the tables have turned these past 70 yrs, militarily, between China/Japan.

Or will it grow up before something happens?

Nothing is going to happen. Grow up? It is Japan which must look itself in the mirror and decide if the security bills are a go.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The 'something' that is going to happen is China continuing its invasions of others territory and increasing them.

What China needs to do is grow up, accept it is not the center of the universe, accept International Law and the International Court of Justice etc as the right place to resolve its conflicts.
