'As Japan and Bangladesh compete for a non-permanent U.N. Security Council seat for the 2015-2016 term, Abe and Hasina will discuss how to defuse any dispute, local media reports said.' 'Japan is ready to provide patrol boats to help Sri Lanka bolster its maritime guard, according to the reports.'

UN Security Council seat vote buying and military weapons sales are what this visit is all about. But can't Abe just leave it to his foreign secretary, rather than doing by himself. Is he a better diplomat?

Kelvin Ng,

No. He's a better salesman.

It's all about the money!

Hmm, no mention of peddling nuclear power to India. Somebody really needs to explain to Abe that globalization is a two-way street. Yeah, it's good to spread Japanese businesses overseas, but it's equally important to encourage international businesses to invest in Japan.

Bangladesh needs more Japanese investment to boost up its promising growth. Japan has already invested a lot in Vietnam and Myanmar. Now it's time to focus on Bangladesh. 160 million market is pledging Japanese FDI in its manufacturing sector. Take it up Mr. Abe...:)

Unfortunately, Abe isn't listening - only to mummy, his rich friends, his American handlers and the voices in his head.

Coming just after the highly successful visit to Japan by the Indian Prime Minister, this visit by Japanese Prime Minister to South Asia is to be welcome by the countries in the region. Occasional hiccups aside, improving economic ties with various countries in the region are good for both Japan and the entire region!

After this trip, Puttin will claim he won two more countries beside Mongolia. Too many countries that he must be checking the names of every country Abe visited. Abe visits these countries with his wife. How about Puttin copy Abe to claim he won? Countries Abe visit are not freezing Puttin's country.

@Disilusioned, Abe is not visiting India right now, so that news is irrelevant here. There are many Indian investments in Japan specially Indian IT giants already stepped their foot for decades here. A good number of people from other sub-continent countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal are operating their own business in Japan and somehow contributing to the Japanese economy.

Don't knock it! For someone as economically challenged as Abe, this is a life changing realisation!
