Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Sunday met with Vice Admiral John Miller, commander of the U.S. Navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet, and other American military officers in Manama, Bahrain, to discuss anti-piracy efforts.
Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces have been taking part in an antipiracy patrols off the coast of Somalia.
Miller thanked Abe for Japan's efforts in the mission, NHK reported. Abe replied that he is planning to bolster Japan's contribution to the fight against piracy by deploying P-3C patrol planes in December.
Later in the week, Abe will visit Djibouti where the MSDF contingent is based.

Licking boots? There is nothing wrong with having allies when facing a foe. Right now we see lots of reasons in Asia itself, where strong allies is a positive. Japan and many of the smaller nations around Asia better be engaging with one another militarily and become close allies to keep those aggressors in China in their place instead of in everyone else's places.... What a shame that one country can disrupt a whole region like China is doing. Everyone in Asia should be, as someone wishes to state it, licking each other's boots. Lol

I imagine Admiral Miller briefed Abe on the military situation.

Licking America's boots? You do realize the anti-piracy patrols are an international project, right?

They wield about the same amount of firepower, so makes sense.
Although surely he had better things to do while in Bahrain, like meeet the locals?

Japan again licking the boots of America. That is what Abe does best. Imagine going all the way there for the meeting and using selling nuclear technology as an excuse for his trip. This guy is really creative and very much destructive.
