Hopefully Abe will not still be the Prime Minister when a new President of the United States is sworn in.
smithinjapan
How generous of him!
Kingston Obike
Abe doesn't have a choice when it comes to the U.S - Japan alliance really; besides, I'm quite sure Abe may even prefer Donald to Obama considering how much Donald is indirectly pushing for increased Japan involvement in global security of which Abe desires very much.

Hillary as president. Abe will kiss her backside once, business as usual. Trump as president. He'll kiss his oshiri 10 times just to appease a self-styled ''strongman'' and bully.

Probably With Clinton We will have Natl election on Nov eight. Clinton does not hate Japan.
Abe might sit about two more times. He is PM from Yamaguchi ken. Check history of Japan's PM since First to now.

How magnanimous of him. Like he really has a choice. Let's see what they'll say about his meeting his buddy Putin.

"He [Abe] said Japan’s alliance with the United States was the foundation of peace and prosperity in [East and South East] Asia, and that the alliance would be increasingly important whoever became president."
He's right about that.

...as if Abe was ever in a position to tell President Trump "You're fired!", or to tell President Clinton "Hey! Cut it out!"....
toshiko
@ThePBot:Abe will evict US military in Okinawa first.

Abe will hopefully be kicked to the curb before he has any chance to work much with the next US leader.
SenseNotSoCommon
They've been burning the midnight oil at the Ministry of Stating The Obvious.
Citizen2012
Well, Abe would maybe try "re-interpret" the result of the US election.

"Like he has a choice?"
