Common sense so far no longer has effect," he said.

I guess that's why he's the PM

He can desire, urge, pledge but he certainly does not have anything like the public under standing he continues to pledge to get. Yes he might have a gaggle of similar minded simpletons around him but I doubt the general plublic desire the many changes to the constitution both artical9 and the pleather of other changes proposed. Historically less than 50% of the population vote so he might just get what his mum wants by default.

Japanese will keep Article 9, no matter what the warmongers say. I wish more countries had it and we could get on with the business of the world and not war.

The Prime Minister has been persistently preparing the public for the needed Constitutional changes for years now. The threats from Japan’s neighbors are too great to continue holding to the Article 9 fantasy.

Keep the first paragraph of Art 9. But the second part must be revised to recognize the existence of the JSDF. This continuous contradiction is always cause for unnecessary debate.

The only contradiction is what the LDP want to do with the SDF, pre-emptive strikes, not that the SDF exists and not allowed to do so

Wrong.

This is the only contradiction:

"2. In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized."

Art.9

And yet the JSDF has existed since 1951 when Japan was forced to create it by the U.S. who deployed all their troops to the Korean Peninsula.

Anything else such as pre-emptive strikes are secondary and not relevant as the Japanese public have no interest in changing the first part of Art 9.

The Japanese government is run by ultra nationalists and historical revisionists, but i am in favor of the constitutional changes. If Japan had its own military, and not rely on the US for protection, their international diplomacy, in particular towards China will change drastically. Right now, many of the ultra nationalists in Japan feel emboldened to talk tough with China because they know America is protecting them. If they knew they are on their own, they will be more careful how they conduct themselves internationally.

Also, another important article that has to be removed from the constitution is the article that monopolizes the postal services. Under the current constitution, the private sector is barred from providing postal services. That is a ridiculous clause that benefits only the bureaucrats.

COMMON SENSE IS NOT TOUCHING CONSTITUTION WHILE IT IS LOST

°

Constitution is very difficult text to balance. And the time is not right for a change. Constitution should be change by a moderate country who want to evolve et not because he is afraid. Everything will go out of control after the change and extreem right lack the basic common sense to even agree on war sex crime or understand nuclear priority with north corea should come first, and many basics everydays things.

Abe clearly lack the common sense to touch an environmental constitution (not enough virtues).

If SDF wants some respects, then do what SDF is supposed to do.
