Brainiac He can't seem to stay in Japan more than two weeks before going abroad again

Abe 's trips have multiple purposes. Among them the 2 KEY aims are: (1) promote trade (Japan has the technology - So. Am countries have raw materials) ...(2) promote Japan as a peace-loving country as an Intern'l player . .

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Seems Abe doesn't like to stay in the kitchen too long, maybe can't take the heat. He might want to try preparing some cool dishes that all Japanese can agree on instead of burning everyone.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"The visit comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping toured four South American nations"

Abe is getting used to be No.2.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

anotherday Abe is getting used to be No.2

How inane !!! . . . .Perhaps you don't get it - but japan and many So American countries have looooooooog had a good multi-lateral relationships long before it occurred to Xi to grease palms there . . . . Abe wants to reinforce trade relations - he will be warmly reciprocated ( s he has been inthe Pacific -rim countries he has visited) - given the superiourity J products and the integrity of Japanese industry

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

He is not lazy. Either he encourages Japanese corporations to create branches in those countries or easing immigration to Japan easier to fill up labor shortage crisis in Japan? He is showing Japan is not stuck up to these third world countries. He goes there to encourage economic growth. Minimum wages, if employed, in these countries. (Hourly) Mexico 61 cents, Trinidad $1.94, Tobago $1.94, Columbia $1.65, Chile $2.21, Brazil $2.11 ,,,,,

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

“They are also important partners who share basic values such as freedom, democracy and rule of law, and can together contribute to world peace and prosperity,” he added."

Very amusing.

Does Suga really believe that Abe admin can throw enough mud at the wall, some of it will stick ? I suspect that none of these five countries are stupid engough to buy what Abe trys to sell because they see what have happened in Japan today.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I doubt very much these country people know about Japan except maybe they learned Japan had typhoon. Even in USA, just typhoon news only. Nothing about Japan as usually. Poor countries.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Ethan - because they see what have happened in Japan today.-

OK comparatively speaking - that is taking all other countries into the equation - - can you SPELL out the EGREGIOUS things that "have happened in Japan today"....??????

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Mexico and Colombia have rule of law? How many people have been killed in those countries due to drug cartels?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It seems he's trying to get all the perks of the job before Japan wakes up to his real agenda.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You have to remember that many Japanese emigrated to Latin America before and after World War II. There must be several million Latin Americans of Japanese descent there.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Toshiko, what is a poor country?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@toshiko

Mexico, Colombia and Brazil (being Brazil the main) are countries with a great Japanese population (1st, 2nd up to 5th) generation. So the interest in Japan from them is a lot. Not only that, Japan has a lot of business going on in those countries, Chile is one of the countries that Japan is doing business now a days (Mexico and Brazil are doing big time business for quite some decades ago).

Japanese companies and japanese business are so tightly related in those countries.

Is not a thing to be proud of (in my opinion) but, Mexico, Chile and Brazil have one of the biggest Otaku communities in the world.

For that and much much more, Japan es a very well known country in Latin America. And you will be surprise of how much people know about Japan... Though I have to admit, several people tend to have an image of Japan as people wearing hakama/kimono with swords and jyanome, robots going around and people mainly eating eating ramen with okonomiyaki all the time.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@ Daniel : J

apanese companies and japanese business are so tightly related in those countries. Is not a thing to be proud of (in my opinion

ON THE CONTRARY!!!!!!.....From an international perspective- aside from the often narrow myopic perception of people living in japan and J Media - Japanese are liked and respected. ...... They re intelligent, not aggressive, community-oriented ...................Japanese products are in most cases seen aa THE BEST in quality and engineering finesse . . . . . There is a LOT to be proud of for Japanese. . . That does not mean Japan should get into a nationalistic fever - - but recognize that Japan can be a respected player o n the International scene

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Th_Time: Are these countries compatible with China, USA, Japan, S. Korea, Germany, UK,, France, etc. in their national income? What kind of houses do they live? Poverty stricken countries. Children of these countries walk to Texas every day to escape from poverty.
-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@Semperfi

I fail to understand... your point of view.. Since I agree with what are you saying... and at the same time the extract you are quoting form my last comment is still valid.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Are these countries that being robbed out they resource by China, USA, Japan, S. Korea, Germany, UK,, France, etc. i fix that line for you.

so those country are not poor they just well you know, being keep that way for the Rich country keep robbing then.

Toshiko,

What kind of houses do they live?

from where i come from a middle class person have a house 3 times bigger than any Japanese could ever dream. so that don't count.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@The_True: Why these people sending their children walking to go to Texas? Can't they sell their house so that they could keep their children in their country? How come their minimum wages are so low? 3 times bigger than what kind of Japanese houses? Why US media show only shacks to show how poor countries these children escaped? Maybe Obama will stop to request more than 3 billion dollars to help those children in Texas if what you claim is true. There is no poor people there?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@the_True

For I know, Japan has not robbed resources... from Latin American countries, bacause:

1) Japan came late in the game... L. American countries (most of them) where already weary of being robbed, from Spain, England and later by US.

2) Japan has give a lot of money as non-refundable projects, technical assistance and aid (in fact in some countries is the top 1 country that have provided aid in several forms).

3) In most of Latin American countries, there is a relatively large community of Japanese that live there and have in fact helped in the economical growth of those countries.

The size of the houses are relative, considering that Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have a very limited land to use for living. I suppose what Toshiko is trying to say in her slurs, is the living quality.. services and all of the countries.

She is wrong in that too though.

Toshiko must study more.. since Japan also sent their children not to Texas but to Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia my the millions....and when that happen.. guess what.. Houses in Japan were mostly shacks....

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Neagari why you talk about past? Toshiko is talking about NOW not past.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Because... if you don't know your past you have no future.

The past of Japan, may be the present of some other country and thus.. those countries may in the future be what Japan is now.

Can you understand it? That is, at least partly, why the Prime Minister is visiting those L. American countries.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@Daniel: Toshiko must study more.. since Japan also sent their children not to Texas but to Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia my the millions....and when that happen.. guess what.. Houses in Japan were mostly shacks

?????

When Japan sent children to Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguai, and Bolivia by the millions ??? Did the walk like children from central America? When??? Maybe you write as you must be expert in this subject, These children in Texas, they came on their own., their govt did not. Japan, you claim Govt sent. Did Japanese Govt kidnapped millions of Japanese children? How come nobody mention this in past?????

Abe to visit 5 nations in Latin America, Caribbean

And Communist China and South Korea will soon follow with some sort of condemnation.

The fun never ends and the anti Japan poster will always post their hatred.

BrainiacJul. 16, 2014 - 07:30AM JST He can't seem to stay in Japan more than two weeks before going abroad again.

If he would stay at home folks on the far left would complain that he isn't traveling enough and promoting Japan.

When one is a world leader one must travel. Believe it or not Prime Minster, but Japan's economy makes him a world leader.

anotherdayJul. 16, 2014 - 08:14AM JST "The visit comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping toured four South American nations" Abe is getting used to be No.2.

Wow, 50 cent a post goes a whole long way.

You brought civility and reality to this topic and because of this you have stirred the ire of the far left anti-Japan/anti-Diplomacy crowd here.

You must understand, the far left has their blinders on and care not for facts or civility. In their minds the aggressive Communist China is the victim and passive Japan is the villain. They will continue to try and tear down your facts with myths and made up bunk. If you challenge them to provide you with proof they will claim you too are a villain.

But, never get angry or allow these people to get to you, their points are filled with propaganda and sink faster than the Beiyang Fleet ever did. All you have to do is keep asking them to back up their comments with any facts and they will slink away.

So, Bravo Zulu to you, and please keep providing your insightful reality filled posts to these topics. Remember, people hate what they can't refute. The more truth, the more veil and hate you will encounter.

Remember, the truth hurts.

These countries Abe visit are rich on natural source. On the contrary, Japan is poor on natural resources. Abe seems busy to cooperate with these countries to grow economically. Abe will be more successful than China that is not poor in natural resources. Beside that, Japan can offer technological help to these countries.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That’s right. Japan will always be a step behind China. Abe seems to be following Xi around the globe picking up crumbs along the way. Abe’s using “economics” focus is outdated and short-live. Look at Xi he focuses on the long-term friendship, win-win cooperation, and no strings attached. Everywhere Abe goes he would mention about “freedom and democracy,” these illusive concepts are getting blurry day by day. The way China is opening up, “freedom and democracy” are improving exponentially. In the next decade or so when China has improved to the same level as Japan’s, what would happen to Japan then? Even now Japan has hit the wall and starts to step back; there is no more improvement in sight on those concepts for Japan. Long-term view is far better for China so Abe, it’s still not too late to change your strategy.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Well, flowers, the stated goal of the CCP is to never allow true democracy in China. So it will always be behind Japan in GDP per capita, which is all that matters. Enjoy being number 93. As for visiting Latin America, I think Abe will have been the first leader there looking to genuinely do business and not cause some stink about WW2.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

CrazyJoe - You have to remember that many Japanese emigrated to Latin America before and after World War II. There must be several million Latin Americans of Japanese descent there.

Yes. Brazil has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

scipantheist, never say never. The change in China is amazing to say the least. So, tell me what is “true democracy”? If you think Japan has “true democracy,” you are kidding yourself. Think about what Abe has done against the democratic process recently. I guess you heard about China’s economy is now or will be ahead of the US by year end based on the purchasing power parity. Of course, Tokyo would still be the most expensive city in the world where a lot of people are still living in the tubes and have no purpose in life. Suicide rates are sky rocketing. Now, look at China they are fighting against the polluted environment and corruption, they are moving millions of people into the city, they are expanding their infrastructures like crazy, so whose future will be better. Believe me China will be one of the best places to live. Now, what has Japan been doing in terms of improving the standard of living for its people? I haven’t heard anything new happening in Japan for a long time already. Yes, Abe is genuinely doing business; that is the main problem. Everywhere he went he promoted “China threat” theory so that Japan would be in the lime light, creating tension and conflict seem to be the main purpose. Think about this, at least we have China and South Korea to show us about the inhumane atrocities that imperial Japan had committed during the war and how Japan tried to deny or change its own history. We should really thank China and South Korea, without them everything would be swept under the rug and forgotten. Without them the chances are high that the history will repeat itself.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

CCP says they want "social democracy" under the guidance of the CCP. This is not true democracy. Only at least the ability to foist the party out will secure peace in East Asia. Japan has that ability for the LDP, whether or not they choose to use it...

@Toshiko

I think Zichi, clarify very well what I meant.

You know... What Japan can offer to Latin America is very well known.. and it has being going on probably more long before you were born.

Know this, Japan is great in many aspects and it has several technological advantages as well as a cultural and social developments.. but that does not make Japan being superior to any other country. And... really study a bit more history.

Daniel. Thank you for treat me a youngster. You must be born Taishi era ior Meiji era in Japan.
0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe Abe will ease immiglation requirement from these countries? To warm Kyushu? We liked Latin music even before Pearl Harbor attack. It will be nice to be friends with these countries again. Japanese population is shrinking. Invite people from these countries.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@zichi: Do you know where Japanese Govt get such big monry to prepare for? 500,000 yen x 350,000 people are 175,000,000,000 yen Are you sure Japan promised to them? Can Japan afford? $5.000 + per person. Why nobody complain yet? Are you sure there are 350,000 Brazilions of Japanese descent? Japanese population is less than ichi oku, You mean there are more Brazilian Japanese than Korean Japanese? Are you sure on your numbers? I will check your 2 million immigrated from Japan to Brazil etc as I now have doubt on your numbers.

You always bring your witty propaganda TPM humor to these discussions, for that I thank you and by all means please keep posting. Laughter makes the world a better place!

zichiJul. 17, 2014 - 11:46AM JST In Japan, there are about 350,000 Brazilians of Japanese descent but over the past few years,

The numbers you provided are the Peruvians and Brazilians here in Japan. Also, the sum was for Latin American guest workers they were offered offered $3,000 toward air fare, plus $2,000 for each dependent. But this program ran in 2009 and only around 20,000 of those workers took the offer.

flowersJul. 17, 2014 - 06:41AM JST scipantheist, never say never. The change in China is amazing to say the least.

So, are you saying that the Communist Party of China will allow free elections to be held?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Hope Abe visit Bolivia very soon. JT World board stated Bolivia passed a law Thursday authorizing children to work from age 10, saying the rule is necessary due to realities in the impoverished country where kids join the labor market prematurely.

The reduced legal limit has come under fire from critics who said it opens the door to allowing more children to work from a younger age.

The International Labor Organization is investigating the law, amid fears it breached global rules.
