Japan maintains that it has already apologized for the sex slaves known as "comfort women" held by its imperial army.

I don't believe this is Abe's current stance on the issue, hence the protest.

It's interesting that most stories about his visit carry at least a footnote about WWII. Did he underestimate how strongly people still feel about it even over in the USA?

It will be nice if bullet trains come to USA.

The U.S. really needs bullet trains; I understand Americans love for cars but you can hardly get anywhere through the disjointed train system..! To think a couple decades ago you could get anywhere by train.. Shameful.

I'm glad people are actively protesting. I may not support all their ideas, but being public and vocal about your wishes is a great thing! Here's hoping they get their long awaited apology.

The problem with bullet trains in the US, is that while it would be fast to get between cities, once you get to the city you are going to, you are stranded. It's so hard to get around most US cities without a car.

The Koreans are hypocrits. Did you know that the South Korean army had Korean comfort women during the Korean War?

some years ago, there was a plan to make a train system between Vegas and a billage in CA. It did not work because train is a little bit better than old chu chu train and people from LA County and Orange County people have to ride to this village, park there and some more problems. Nobody was interested,

The posibility of ShinKanSen used railroad is connecting SF to SD. There will be major stops where peop;e can use rent a car. Not bike though. MLB fans will use. Although DisneyLand visitors.

Vegas may have another plan such as Vegas to Disneyland area but I coubt as NV people are not familiar to raise any state tax for any cause,

Ah, but that is true with planes as well, Strangerland. The Bay Area has decent local public transit, and LA - unbelievably - will soon have some of the best in the US. I hope someday a bullet train corridor is built from Seattle to San Francisco with an extension to Las Vegas.

That's news to me. uh, I mean, since I'm not much of a hand at talking about rail transportation in the U.S., I wouldn't have guessed. It's a big help.

Thanks for the heads-up.

monozuki: A majority of places in U/SA, especially in west, there is no train running. All we can figure out of old train systm in USA is by watching old /tv series of Petti/coat Junction, Airplanes, people use to visit far away place.
