I think he's the only person in Japan wearing the abenomask. Kudos for him for not wearing a mask that fits.

Under the policy of doing all we can, we will make utmost efforts...

Who'd have guessed?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Photo op, did he actually do anything besides visit?

Those silly Japanese politicians wearing those ridiculous cloths like they are coming out of a manufactory just for the sake of PR (=look we are doing something) is quit annoying.

It only took him over a week. Wow.

The shiny boots and shoes indicate their status.

Sincere hats off to all those involved in the hands-on efforts. They are heroes.

He is so funny, tinny mask ( still have seen nobody wearing one) doing absolutely nothing you have to love him and his suit. He has lost all interest in doing his job? As a leader well for 8 years my dog has done better.

Isn’t he embarrassed being the only person he ever meets wearing an abenomask? He should be.

Somebody should give a mop to Abe. Start mopping if you wanna help us.

I'm sure he was loathe to go.He's been in hiding leaving the Tokyo rising Covid-19 numbers problem to Koike.Probably thought sneaking in a misekake visit to Kumamoto would restore his "leadership" credentials.Lol.

This. Pristine boots in this situation, you’re wasting money, space and time.

He must really want to support his tax dodging friend to continue wearing such a stupid mask, must be a serious Bromance. But love is love.

Only problem is it would take too much time to teach him just how to use it and odds are someone would just have to follow up afterwards because he made things worse than before he started. (Just like his being PM)

He is unqualified to assess damage. It was a photo op he didn't want to have to pose for.

@Yubaru

Teaching Abe to mop would take like...ages!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

in the picture they all have clean boots!

The greeting group have Kuma mura written on their backs which suggests to me that they are local government officials posing for a photo-op...

They should do some research into the effectiveness of the small Abenomask vs the larger masks that fit under your chin. The Abenomasks look like something an 8 year old child would wear to school.

You know Abe is doing well when the foreign media and audience points out the mask, how his wearing it, if it's the right size. Lol

They are ignoring that part now... Want to talk about the mask his wearing personally. Haha

Hundreds of infections in Japanese hospitals and nursing homes-that is doing a good job?

Shutting down the economy and people can’t pay their rents and buy food?

Definitely a bad job!

Notice the very submissive stance of the one facing him in shiney new boots, hands at the side in tightly , but aside from all this pretense and polish and posture the real issue is here

The widespread rain caused overflows of 105 rivers

Preparation prevention and precaution are all lacking, how many rivers in Japan are not really able to cope with the torrential rains. We see it every year. I hope its not going to be Tokyo's turn anytime soon, Tama, Sumida. Edogama, these big rivers could all break their banks and flood a large part of tokyo causing huge disruption devastation and havoc and we know last year some of them were close to their limits.

Money needs to go into creating stop banks, Levis, drainage and proper run offs before its too late, and I have a feeling there is no time left.

So Abe do away with the bowing and polished boots pressed uniforms and pretense get some reality into it and start building stuff that matters ,

Reading the comments on here he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't

Our thoughts, and hearts to the victims of the Kumamoto region . . . .

I see some negitive comments here.

Take a minute and think about this.

Compere the reactions of trump to all the crises in the states and how Abe-san deals with all the crises

that happen in Japan.

Earthquakes, floods, mass shootings. Who would you rather have as a leader?

@Strangerland

"...that will result in America being the last propagator of the virus..."

Of courses, blame the victim while deflecting criticism away from perpetrator. It's originally a "bat virus," which was perfectly safe until people in and around Wuhan, China, engaged in illegall/unethical activities that made the virus jump to humans, according to most scientists, inflicting misery and depression on the world, including Japan.

Some perspective, please, people.

Back in America when there's flooding, the National Guard are usually called up to do sandbagging and other flood counter measures. My question is, does the SDF do this in Japan or are they just search and rescue after the fact? I haven't heard of or read any news of people sandbagging or taking other flood precautions here aside from evacuate.

I think a lot of people would have a bit more respect for him if he'd gone there to shovel mud...

People of Kumamoto prefecture are afraid of Corona virus from Tokyo.

But Japanese prime minister Abe with staff including aide visited to Kumamoto to revive support rate despite burden of local town side.

because they had used disaster to revive support rate by showing appearance that as if prime minister does something.
