Still have received NOTHING so doubling Nothing is still NOTHING. Should have a shoddy group of companies linked to the LDP. I'd receive buckets of money.

When will this guy understand that his approval rating will only go up when he actually does what he "vows", "considers", etc.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

At the end of the day, all of us will pay.

Increase of taxes, medical fees, delay of the retirement age, etc etc

Its in the vocabulary really. When Abe san uses the word VOW, how is he using this word? What essence of the word is he using? Its our fault really. We think VOW means DO. Be careful how you process the words.

Vow,swear, consider,contemplate,think,look into it,stare at it,kento suru,omou,kangaeteru....Mmmm...Aaaa..Do shiyou...yaawwwwnnnn...

He can pledge 500 trillion if he wants; he'll also make the process excruciatingly onerous to limit the number of applicants.

This tax money (ie OUR money) that Abe wants to give back to us will materialize only for a handful of businesses. Those with the time and personnel to fill out the forms, and the patience to wade through the bureaucracy.

Abe talking out of the wrong side again

Sweet nothings from Mr. Abenomask. Too late; how many people have already lost their jobs and filed for bankruptcy? This package was needed over a month ago and this package should have been deliberated and finalized during the time the world bought him time, i.e. Jan - March. He squandered it all for the defunct olympics. By the time this package is passed if ever, it will be the end of summer and how many more businesses will have closed and how many students will have to quit school because they can't pay their tuition? It is infuriating to say the least.

Unbelievable but I'm a foreign small business owner and yesterday got ¥2 million deposited! I am as amazed as the next man and didn't expect a yen!

All talk no action

I vow to give 1 quadrillion, sextillion yen

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Lowering the 10% tax to 5% would be the ideal solution, as well as cancelling the Olympics.

People I know have been posting things on Facebook by foreign travel bloggers saying they are going to get a half-price trip to Japan. It's based on an actual government document saying the government is going to pay half of hotel fees and give coupons for omiyage and restaurants. I somehow suspect much of the money will have been used up by wealthy older Japanese by the time foreign travel bloggers are allowed back in the country.

¥200 tril thats 3 more Abenomask I guess, shipped out 2025 or later ? ( and another Tax rise to 20% in 2021)

The Abe "vows" are coming out! He must realize how his popularity is tanking. How many vows will we get this week, with of course NONE of them coming to be? When the man is actually serious about something, he doesn't vow -- he does it while no one is looking. Did he VOW to get his judge buddies extended seats? Nope. Just tried to ram it through, saying he didn't need the public's understanding or approval. Did he VOW to have the 100,000 yen quickly to us in May? Yes. Where is even the application form? Did he VOW to solve the NK abduction issue? Yes, about 20 times. In fact, I expect he will do so again this week as he always does after/during a scandal or before an election.

Oh, I have no doubt he'll increase the debt, but it won't be to help the people.

Will this include another round of ‘Abenomasks’? I’m sure most families have worn out the two they received already by sharing them, that’s the few who have actually received them, of course.

That’s more than Dr Evil demanded!

At the end of the day, all of us will pay.

Let's break that down. Govt gives a ton of money to businesses to rescue them from insolvency/bankruptcy. Govt issues bonds to cover the expenditure. Nearly all the bonds are bought by the Bank of Japan, a public sector institution. When the bonds mature, the proceeds including coupon payments go back to the finance ministry. Inflation, exchange rates and other macro trends are basically unchanged.

If we do “pay” for this, it would be a political, not economic, decision, like the consumption tax hike. More likely though, at the end of the day, all of us will be saved from a downward spiral of economic activity, and pay very little.

So printing more money (however that is financed) has no adverse consequences?  Someone will pay for all of this, either now or at some future date.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Really really adverse consequences have not yet occurred, and therefore, the thinking goes, shall not occur in future either!

fingers crossed

130 trillion yen to facilitate fundraising by companies, as well as the government's fiscal investment and loan program, and investment by the private sector

In other words 130 trillion yen that the average Tanaka Taro-kun will never ever see. Or any employee for that matter.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This is what we call inflate-the-numbers. Unfortunately so many people will fall for it. Conditions to get funding have been made stringent and cumbersome to discourage many from applying and limit the numbers. At the end not even of the sums quoted here would have been used and with the lack of investigative journalism it will be forgotten.

How about the following 200,000 hotel rooms secured, 50,000 ICU were in the first stimulus

The funny part was including intended tax break based on past lofty case to companies in the stimulus package even though revenue from tax is expected to fall dramatically.

Abe is desperate and will quote any amount to make him.self look like he cares and in touch when he doesn't as the Abenomask shows.

more liquidation of the public purse to corporations

Just to let you all know. I went out of town or traveled out of my area Sunday and Monday. When I was unloading my car and bringing bags and omigae up to my flat. Checked my mail as I usually do. To my surprise a bright yellow envelope from International relations is in box. I was wondering whats this? Junk mail? It's the 100.000 man stimulus application paper. So it is coming. Confirmed. I live Tosu Saga.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It bears repeating; though the final figures have been changing through all the reconsideration and revisions , the amount going to households out of this astronomical figure is about 4 trillion. 4 trillion and I doubt the percentage for this figure will rise as Japan Inc. is in a feeding frenzy at the public trough.

My wife downloaded the application form 2 weeks ago and we sent our application in on May 11th. We live in Hokkaido. The money is supposed to take 2 weeks to receive, so should be this week, but who really knows.
