Argentina protests against U.S., Japan at WTO

Funny, how nations protest import restrictions when they themselves do the same thing for their own convenience and agenda on other items. Some do it my heavy import taxation and some do it by outright legal mandates to restrict imports to protect domestic production. When push comes to shove, all nations must "protect" their own before others.

The problem is UN and and other international organizations try to keep the playing field even and equal based upon their own selfish agenda and needs. No country or people are "required" to give anything that they have earned and own to anyone. No country or people are "required' to participate in any international organization. No country or people are "required" to sell any of their products. No country or people are "required" to BUY any products that they do not want to buy.

In this small planet earth, it just makes practical and rational sense to "participate" with other nations to assure the safety, security and well-being of one nation. But the basic rule is that no one is "required" or "forced" to participate. One of the only exceptions being the potential for war and the destruction of a country or nation, such as in the case of nuclear weapons.

Which countries is Argentina not complaining about at the moment? The UK, the US, Japan....

Fernandez de Kirchner and her government are the laughing stock of the world..

We need to be fair, though, and listen to her case, and give Argentina a breathing space in the world community.

So she wants lemons, beef, the Falklands and a gold plated toilet, right...?

Talk about an expensive date.

Being in Brazil, I may say that Argentina slams the door on other nations' face while whining it is not welcome at their parties. The two nations are neighboors and just last year President Kirchner raised the tax import to Brazilian cars more than 100%, with no further notice. It escalated to a tax war that is bringing Argentina down to its knees: inflation in Argentina is sky rocketing again. But Argentineans had it coming: Kirchner is a populist, her administration is corrupt, and if depends on her, Argentina will go on war against England over the Falkland Island the next morning. Brazil's President Dilma, and former President Lula, are examples or corrupt administrations, but they pale in comparison to Argentina.

well, at least the WTO is the proper venue to raise such grievances, so Argentina is at least acting like a reputable member of the community of nations.

let's face it, we haven't established these organizations because there aren't disputes like these that arise between nations. we have established organizations like the WTO precisely for the purpose of setting the rules of international trade and mediating between countries when disputes arise in relation to those rules.
