The Aussies step in the right direction, and do not forget telling China to shut up; cause "an internal matter" as used often by the nonsense mouthpiece of communist China.

We certainly support Japan working towards a more normal defence posture to help it play a greater global and regional role, she told a news conference.

But he added: One thing I should emphasize is that we do want to see territorial disputation resolved according to international law, that is fundamentally, very, very significant.

There you go Japan !. A full support from Australia... No one in the right mind wants to see the current aggression from China to spread further south...

I think China is provoking all day and night at Senkakus, so, why not Japan to be able to help countries that are involved in disputes with China, and not to forget, all these disputes are the ones where China is expanding their borders .

Japan has one of the most advanced stealth submarines in the world...and Australia knows this and want to have some of it. Now they can own Oceana and the Indian Ocean. Too bad for China buying decrepit subs from Russia

Communist China will continue it's propaganda war, but it will lose because every nation in Asia knows who the true enemy to peace and stability is and they support Japan's plan.

The only way to keep peace is to prepare for war.

KabukiloverJun. 13, 2014 - 08:30AM JST Correction, the rabid rightist government wants Japan to get involved in other countries wars. Naturally far away from Australia.

So, you label anyone that sides with Japan a rabid rightist government, interesting.

It appears by your comment that you support Communist China's incursions into it's neighbor's territories.

But, I will see if you do or don't, so I will ask you a few questions to see where you stand on this topic.

Do you think that Communist China has the right to claim 90% of the South China sea and almost all of the East China sea?

Should every neighboring nation that is affected by this Communist incursions just sit by and smile or do they have the right to defend themselves?

Would love to hear you position on this.

Good job, Australia!!

Well, that is the green light for full rearmament.

@Octagon:

Too bad for Aussie bought the defective and over budget Collin Subs from US

What are you talking about ?. Is it your habit to misquote factual information, or you can't read plain Australian ?

Six Collins-class subs were built in South Australia based on the Swedish designed Västergötland class. Harpoon missile may be the only weaponry from the US installed for the subs.

Here is the quote from your wiki link: 'The submarines, an enlarged version of Swedish shipbuilder Kockums' Västergötland class and originally referred to as the Type 471, were constructed between 1990 and 2003 in South Australia by the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC)"

Just to correct one imprecision...

Japan HAS been to war with subs... WW 2... there were Japanese subs around... a lot... even in Pearl Harbor.

Australia, Japan and US alliance is not confrontation against Communist China. They are working together for regional peace and stability. All territorial problems in East and South China seas should be resolved by International Law. Small counties in Asia Pacific region will be benefited from strong relationship between Japan, Australia and US. In addition, Communist Chinese Government co-operating with US, Japan and Australia could be effectively saved thousands of lives when natural disaster strike in Asia-Pacific region in future. Modern day military is not just for war fair and also they can carry duty for humanitarian work, search and rescues work in natural disaster and terrorism attack.

Japan must play a greater constructive role in global and regional peace and security because Japan has capability in technology and money. Today Japan is difference from old Japan and today Japan is building with peace loving society. Old Japan has been curtained for 69 years now. Japan won’t be going back to past. Also Japan needs military strength for defend itself from outside aggression as well. Japan only wants peace and stability in region but it does not guaranty rogue state won’t be attacking Japan because Japan does not war. So Japanese Government spending more money on military hardware and national security was justified because Japan can not build up its defense in within 24 hours when it needed for to defend nation.

I hope Japanese Government and Australian Government will find common ground on technology co-operation between them for to build future Submarines for Australian Navy. It will be great Australian Navy can access Japanese technology for its future Submarine. Now Australia has mature Government and military co-operation between Australia and Japan will bring peace and stability in Asia-Pacific region.

This is the kind of news that makes me have hope that we will not see another world war. As I've said many times, the day China decides it's ready to start WWIII it will be China against the whole world. Is that what it takes to get the CCP dictatorship out of power?

With Australia's backing the Japanese posture... down goes those cries of "all countries affected by Japan in WW 2 sees Japan as a threat"

This means... that, oh my oh my, only China, North Korea and election crazed South Korea (Korea's politicians go wild when elections are near) are the only one making noise and bringing past subjects that were solved (by presenting apologies, helping to recover and even giving money... and of course accepting all that help)

@heynong

Have you been to Australian navy base?

No. Have you?

Have you heard the news about Australia navy is retiring Collin Subs even before it is using?

Your second question contains incorrect information. If your trying to claim superior knowledge with regards to the subs are being retired "early", I already know. Thanks for nothing.

It is the multi billions not multi millions project.

If so?

In fact Submarines order are very risky business.

No kidding.

Pls research how much ADF has spent for modernization of Subs?

Whatever for?

Some went down to the drain as rain. Will Submarines make the decisive factor for winning the war?

Which kind of "war" are we discussing?

Can theses subs deter the signals of Sona-sounders or Echo -Sounders?

Depends on the scenario. If you knew what you are talking about, you wouldn't need to ask.

I think it is too early to judge the new order as everything will be wine and rose. You have to try before you buy your shoe.

Who said it's a done deal?

Let me ask you a question. What's your opinion on the fact that both the USN and MSDF have much better subs than the those of the PLAN?

“more normal defense posture”, a day after Tokyo and Canberra stepped up ties.

And there is no financial incentive for Aussie to say this? Yeah, right. That sentence would have saved Aussie a bucket load of cash on a new submarine. Not sure why Aussie wants a submarine but that's what governments do, spend other peoples money.

Not everyone, Joe Bigs. Just the current leadership in Australia. Also Abe and his crowd belong in that category. Importantly, both want to get Japan in other peoples wars. This something we do not need. We do not need the blood of Japan's youth spilled for no good reason and japan does not need any more enemies. It has enough already thanks to Abe.

@Kenny76

What are you posting about is obvious that it was without reading wiki link. Collin class sub marines contrat has been a nigh mare for ADF. It has blown the budget and moved beyond the project dead line.

You had a habit for not reading wiki link and misquote other people researched information. If you want to know more about plain English in Collin Class Sub contract, ADF has own information that main stream civilian media.

During the Senate inquiry, they have admitted, they did not do enough feasibility study for whether joint project is worthwhile or not !Submarines are not like civilian cars. It is not convenient for recalling from front line. If there is an tiny error, all lives will be gone unlike surface ships.

If you are 100% confident that Disel powered subs are superior, pls supply the statics about their reliability, speed, quietness and fuel consumption. If you do not, you are rushing to post without any research.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Of course the Abe government supports it. They want a discount on their new submarines.

Japan has one of the most advanced stealth submarines in the world

Japan has never been to war with subs. There is no statics that Japanese submarines are better and more reliable than Russia or US products.

Australia knows this and want to have some of it

Many Aussie know that Made in Japan is no longer the slogan for peace of mind. Honda and Toyota have been recalling their defective cars world wide. If Japanese cars have to be recalled, subs can be recalled too. Buying Japanese Submarines is the gambling for ADF.

Too bad for China buying decrepit subs from Russia

Too bad for Aussie bought the defective and over budget Collin Subs from US. The submarines have been the subject of incidents and technical problems since the design phase, including accusations of foul play and bias during the design selection, improper handling of design changes during construction, major capability deficiencies in the first submarines, and ongoing technical problems throughout the early life of the class. Hopefully Japanese diesel powered subs may not repeat the nightmare for Aust Navy again.

Communist China will continue it's propaganda war

No it won't, because communist china does not exist. China is an oligarchy, not a communist state.

For whatever reason, you keep trying to propagate the lies of the CCP. Are they paying you, or do you do it for ideological reasons?
