What does he want to sell?

Great! Happy that America will meet the Prime Minister Of Japan. A show of strength and determination.

Be sure to have plenty of pudding for him. Oh, and ice cream. The guy can't get enough of it.

He will be hearing a familiar chant.
maybe we can even chant it in Japanese too.

our gas reserves to EU for his profit, and of course weapons.
Japan is an ATM.

It will be canceled like Boris, does anybody remember the last time a significant world leader visited? Olympics could draw them out.

So close to getting there. You already just had a virtual meeting with Kishida...just do it again. Virtual meetings can host all 4 people! Even more if needed!
Please let one of the few good takeaways of this pandemic be that world leaders can stop flying around the world to have a sit down conversation.

tight schedule…lol

I can't wait to see Jetlagged Joe. Will definitely cut a commanding figure.

My guess would be a unified approach to China, Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, Myanmar and the South China Sea. Just a guess though but those seem to be important to this administration

You are forgetting the US and EU diverted gas shipments to Japan in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake when Japan's nuclear power plants were down. Now Japan repays the favor to the EU. The truth is even more benign. Please read the link.

Why is it necessary for these people to fly throughout the world when they lock down and mandate the citizens. They speak about Global Warming and yet fly their jets. Why is it that they can't use Skype or Zoom like they expect the rest of us to.
Also, when he comes, what about quarantine time? These politicians fly the world and never quarantine.
Desert Tortoise
Skype and Zoom cannot replace meeting someone face to face, looking them in the eye, shaking their hand, speaking directly face to face and in that way guaging what kind of person your foreign counterpart is. There are also often things world leaders wish to say to each other that you don't want to put on any kind of electronic media. Some things are said face to face in private.

I have no problem seeing the eyes and reactions of people on Zoom. Secure comms between “leaders” have been around for centuries, from couriers on horseback to electronic.
It’s just theater.
