North Korea has also sought to tighten relations with Russia as much of Europe and the West has pulled away

And here everyone was saying Putin had no friends left

The irony. The reason NK is belligerent is because of the presence of the occupation forces.

Time for Japan to send the occupiers home by cutting off all financial assistance and this having a far better relationship with all it's neighbors. One of which is by far Japan's largest trading partner and one of which on top of being an important trading partner is where Japan can get almost all the vital commodities it needs for high tech industry.

What was they talking about ,speed and orbital velocity of the missile,in honest we only had one educated President in these modern time,it was Jimmy Carter, people look foolish trying to explain something, they have no knowledge of

The North Koreans have hinted interest in sending construction workers to help rebuild Russian-occupied territories in the country’s east.

There's nothing better than North Korean infrastructure. LOL.

Israel and it's "allies" was able to cyberattack Iran's nuclear program, why the same has not been done yet for NK programs.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Japan and it's allies must have forgotten the term PROACTIVE!? sitting and waiting for NK to fire the next missile or conduct the next Nuke test is NOT what it means.

Putin still runs his discounted gas station of a nation, in the fossil economy it's any gas station in a storm. Putin also has Iran on his side, and maybe China, and if Bolsonaro gets re-elected perhaps Brazil. It will be interesting to see which way the winds blow with India. The anti-west's dream team of dictators, Putin, The Ayatollah, Xi Jinping, Bolsonaro and Modi. And maybe soon, the wackiest of them all the Florida-guy who has stashes of documents he can use to extort money and favors from them all.

In Dubai and Abu Dhabi I watched North Korean construction crews at work, they usually outworked the slaves from other countries.

Japan has PAC 3 weapons system, which I believe have medium to high altitude capabilities. Test it as soon as the missile enters Japanese air space. If the missile is still in its upward trajectory it should be over the Sea of Japan, the debris will fall in the water. Layman speaking so don't beat me up on this. The gist of what I'm saying is Japan has bought a lot of fancy military toys and gadgets, don't wait for the real thing to find out it doesn't work.

LMAO! Why in the world would the North Koreans want to rebuild annexed Ukraine land... involve themselves in that part of the world?

Pure unadultered provocation of the West (US particularly).

They're almost begging.... slap me down hard! LOL

I think we can expect more cocky moves like this from Kim and gang, now that they have nukes.

PAC 3 is a short range point defense weapon designed to pick off whatever THAAD and SM-3 might have missed, a warhead descending on the target. You are not going to hit a ballistic missile at the peak of its trajectory in space with it.

Same reason DPRK sends workers to other nations basically as slaves, to send money back to DPRK.

Birds of a feather as Russia becomes as diplomatically and economically shunned as the North Koreans. Pootie-poo probably needs to learn some of the sanction busting tricks the Norks have turned into an art form.

Two reasons come to mind. Number one, if either the US or Japan engaged that missile with one of their own, they would reveal an awful lot of useful information about their kill chain to the Chinese and Russians, the sort of things you would prefer your adversaries could only guess at. Second would be debris causing injuries or damage.

Yes, that makes sense.

Is that legally koshure though? UN sanctions and all? Or is it a matter of NO it isn't, but like these missile launches, they do it anyway, nothing anyone can do about it, short of going to war, which nobody wants. Not even Kim, as belacose as they act.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Seeing the Russian military fail so miserably against a less powerful but determined enemy with their forces just over the border from their industrial heartland, and watching Russia itself sort of slowly implode under the strain has probably made Kim Jong Un even more determined to develop nuclear weapons and delivery systems. Where before he may not have trusted the Russians to help defend his nation in a crisis, now he must feel Russia is utterly incapable of doing so even if they wanted to. This will affect his and his military leader's planning.

Here is an interactive map of the nations hosting DPRK workers. Russia and China both host tens of thousands of them. A recent trend not reflected in this link is to send their smarter students abroad as IT workers. When they come home they are used as hackers.

"ability to support its unlawful ballistic missile and weapons of mass destruction programs."

I like the hypocrisy here. Unlawful according to who the yanks and their lackeys at the UN?? No one is saying kim Jong Fatman shouldn't be deposed but this bunk of weapons programs for the "good guys" only is just that, utter bunk!

Israel and it's "allies" was able to cyberattack Iran's nuclear program, why the same has not been done yet for NK programs.

Because NK’s nuclear program, and much of the country itself, is not connected to outside communications networks. So unless you actually get a saboteur inside the nuclear facilities, tough luck.

NK missiles can only hit Japan

So unless you actually get a saboteur inside the nuclear facilities, tough luck.

You are right, of course. On the other hand, there was plenty of time through all those many decades, for a skilled intelligence service to place or buy a few of them and activating them. It’s difficult but not impossible, to do something behind those iron curtains as other examples in younger history have shown. So the question is, why it’s not considered or done.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Joe Kun, what are we going to do with chubby Kim..

I don't know Kishi kun, send him a McBurger container..

I agree. Not impossible, but exceedingly difficult.

First of all, NK is so secretive and paranoid, they shoot to kill tourists who wander off the predetermined tour route.

Secondly, family connections, lineage and prestige are everything in advancing a career in NK. To even be considered as a candidate to work in NK’s nuclear program, you’d have to be a well educated descendant of a prestigious party-loyal family.

Thirdly, the west was able to infiltrate the USSR and vice-versa because their physical appearance is not too different. For a spy or operator to infiltrate NK, they would have to be ethnic Korean or East Asian, at least, and have the above credentials and connections.

Many North Koreans are starving, and the kid Kim Jong-Un plays with expensive rockets. Time has passed to make a clear demonstration of defense, if another rocket is launched in Japan's direction it must be immediately put down before it reaches Japanese air space. Rockets can be launched against South Korea, Taiwan, who knows the crazy mind of a dictator with nuclear power at his hands.

Consult = advise to buy loads of weapons, services and to consider being part of future wars? Perhaps start one?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Depends. Their leadership and their army of hackers certainly have global internet access. North Korean hotels open only to foreigners have internet access. The average North Korean does not.

If the US or other western nations have managed to access North Korean systems they are not going to advertise it publicly. In fact it is better to keep that sort of information from becoming public. I can recall one instance of being briefed on western penetration of a hostile government organized cyber theft ring that had essentially made it ineffective. Every time the hostile nation tried an exploit some firm and steal their ip friendly intelligence saw it and got ahead of them, effectively neutralizing them without them being aware. Then a private security firm published an account of the same organization in the press and the adversary nation realized they were exposed. The organization was closed, forcing western intel to figure out what would replace them in time and go through the hard work of penetrating their replacement and neutralizing them again.

I hope that they keep those bullet trains shut down and on high alert in order to make sure that we avoid a catastrophe.

I may be wrong, but to my knowledge, most NK hacking operations are based in China in disguised labor camps in border towns.

And I agree, any infiltration the west has into NK is most definitely top secret.

N Korea missile fired that flew over Japan.

The missile flew 4500 km, surpassing Guam 3400 km away.

Strategically, it constitutes a new threat to US. In what way would Washington react then?

Anyway, endless missile-launches enable Kim to distract his people from domestic multiple woes..

The irony. The reason NK is belligerent is because of the presence of the occupation forces.

You live in your fantasy world where Russia, China and North Korea are the "good guys". Sadly for you the opposite is true. They are the bad guys looking to start trouble, increase territory by colonial means and conquest of neighbors.

Time for Japan to send the occupiers home by cutting off all financial assistance and this having a far better relationship with all it's neighbors.

The US bases in Japan do not occupy Japan. There is a Japanese PM not a US military governor in Japan. Japan represents itself at the UN and is not spoken for by US representatives. Your continued droning on of fantasy to make Japan look weak and the US look bad simply shows someone who is the lickspittle of China and Russia. We all know them to be run by evil people with delusions of grandeur and a desire to be remembered through history as conquerors. They will instead be written into history as murderers and failures who caused more pain to their own people through their actions than any outside force ever could, like Mao and Stalin before them.

We wish they would clean up their act and become valuable members of civilized society in harmony with democracies. They have much to offer in such a role. That they choose to be belligerent and hostile especially when not getting their erroneous ways is clear to all except those who also wish to rule with fear and repression like they do.

They always seem to choose evil over good.

I may be wrong, but to my knowledge, most NK hacking operations are based in China in disguised labor camps in border towns.

DPRK does some hacking from abroad trying to confuse their adversaries about the source of the hacks, but their most important hacking by their most skilled personnel is accomplished from inside DPRK where they don't have to be concerned about their people being arrested by the host nation's police.

Btw, most seem unaware that DPRK is able to send students abroad to some of the best universities to study things like physics, chemistry, and various forms of engineering. Remember that Rocket Man and his Krypt Keeper lil' sis were both schooled in Switzerland. DPRK leadership sends their best students abroad for a good university education and then these students, after graduation, brings the latest engineering knowledge back home to DPRK where their government employs them on their weapons programs and highly profitable cyber warfare.
