Biden praises Kishida's leadership and Japan's growing international clout

International clout ??? Wtf

Clearly Biden is off his rocker

Kishida being the military lap doggie for the USA isn't leadership

Nope !

-15 ( +13 / -28 )

I hear Biden and Kishiditha had a wonderful la la land meeting .

Trump will shatter whatever primrose path dreams Biden promised

Time to click those heels back to Tokyo

-13 ( +11 / -24 )

That's an interesting take on leadership.

with senior Biden administration officials noting appreciatively there is little the U.S. does across the globe that Tokyo doesn’t support

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

Do you think this will have a positive effect, negative effect or no effect at all on Kishida’s approval ratings at home?

Defense is all well and good, but Japan needs to tap into some of that US economic strength in order to lift itself out of recession.

Goodman,I am not a supporter lots of Biden policies , Trump been convicted as Felon, will be in custody of the state of New York in some form of law,you been a felon cannot decide your own rules

That's right..

It's a pathetic skit..

That's right..

It's a pathetic skit..

Because you'd prefer PM Kishida - and Japan - to be in lock-step with Xi and his Communist government.

Fumio Kishida's “bold leadership”

ROFL! Good joke!

-12 ( +16 / -28 )

Obviously Biden is praising Kishida for willingly and obediently paying protection money by playing the role of a cash dispenser for the US.

Obviously Biden is praising Kishida for willingly and obediently paying protection money by playing the role of a cash dispenser for the US.

Japan isn't "dispensing" anything. They are buying weapons for their own use that they feel with ugrade their own security in light of curret global events. Nothing obedient about it.

You would prefer Japan bought them from China or Russia?

“The prime minister is a visionary and courageous leader,

Clearly Biden is not fit for purpose.

-14 ( +8 / -22 )

Leadership?

Kishida couldn't a bicycle rolling down a hill!

Probably someone from the LDP advised Biden to say this to improve his lousy support ratings!

-6 ( +8 / -14 )

America Strong would like Kashida to remain in office. Henceforth, this beautiful partnership.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

scammer and looser always praise each other.

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

What I meant to write was, “Kishida couldn't lead a bicycle rolling down a hill.”

A style of "leadership" of which it could be said, "His men would follow him anywhere. But only out of curiosity." (Not mine, but it fits nicely)

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

I don't care what they talk about. I just want cost of living in Japan to improve. High priced groceries, expensive dining. It's getting ridiculous.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

“bold leadership” (⌒▽⌒)

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Hnag on.... sooooo... slipping to the world's fourth economy, and like down to tenth within the decade, is considered "clout"?

-10 ( +7 / -17 )

Well done, two allies that are Inseparable.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Japans growing international clout?

really, Joe?

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Biden is right. Japan has stepped up in the face of Russia's terrorism in Ukraine, and supported Ukraine, giving them more clout in the region.

Good on Japan, and good on Biden for recognizing Japan for recognizing who the true enemy is; Russia.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

You kinda sound like that short German fella.

Heh, you just proved that internet law, the one where every thread eventually results in someone getting called Hitler.

Tower Seven.

The only thing shining through here is that wonderful poker face Kishida has and does so well.

We all know what Kishida san is thinking. He is thinking. I hope I can hold on to power until November when my pal is back in power. This guy Biden pffft!

With my pal back in power. Then we can get down to real business.

Have a round of Golf and serious discussion on firepower and some serious discussion on Japan final getting the Nuke to keep China at bay.

Kishida knows Biden is living in a land of la la and ice cream.

Biden was most likely thinking. I wonder what flavor ice cream Kishida likes? :-) What's that green ice cream called? Mushoo? Mushy? Macan? No Mr. President. Its Macha sir. LOL

Japans growing international clout?

really, Joe?

Leaders of countries like Japan and the US praise each other. It’s the done thing. No big deal.

Praising murderous dictators is a different matter.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Edwin O. Reischauer once called the US-Japan defense alliance “the world’s most important bilateral relationship bar none.”

He was right then. He’s right now.

As a technical and economic powerhouse and the world’s 4th largest navy, the world’s best ASW capability and a top-tier Air Force, (as well as a functional democracy), Japan oldies indeed have quite a bit of clout.

until we found it was 10 billion yen. Which is basically nothing in dollars.

The Japanese yen to dollars is a sad pathetic situation for us living in japan

Not to mention living costs and expenses constantly rising in groundhog day land japan

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

I'd like to adjust the headline, if you don't mind:

"Biden says sweet words that anyone who speaks English could say, and gets gushing media headlines for it."

Sub-headline:

"President's delivery of comments written for him by staffers was top-notch, observers note"

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

The blind leading the blind.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Good on Japan, and good on Biden for recognizing Japan for recognizing who the true enemy is; Russia.

the good ole neocon propaganda .

Because Russia didn't unilaterally invade their neighbor based on their dictator's ego, right?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Russia is not gonna "attack Japan" no matter how much Russiaphobes push that nonsense

Russian wasn't going to attack Ukraine either, was it.

Seems someone is a big deluded as to what Russia will do in spite of saying otherwise, and it certainly isn't me.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Kishida: Yes, yes, yes, yes yes, ........etc.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

It was great to hear that Japanese astronauts will join the American astronauts on the moon. Japanese companies employ over a million U.S. workers on U.S. soil. Cooperation is stronger than ever across the board. This really is a special relationship.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

“The prime minister is a visionary and courageous leader,” Biden said..................In what country is that??......asking for a friend.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

The blind leading the blind.

Yeah, I have very deep concerns myself.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Incredible how much some are reading into or questioning the sincerity of the usual niceties exchanged between leaders.

What would they prefer? Both of them to launch into tirades?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Leadership and growing international clout of Kishida/Jpn - Biden is divorced from reality.

The press conference part was interesting. Both were at their lecterns and Joe lost his card with his prearranged, softball questions from 'journalists'. He rifled about through his documents and eventually found it while saying out loud that he was looking for his "list of questions" and then proceeded to call out a name of the journalist before anyone had raised their hands. Kishida looked a bit oblivious.

It's on camera. But it is common knowledge Joe uses cards with talking points and more.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

This meeting is like gift from US to Kishida who panic buy costly US weapons.

Japanese pro-LDP media emphasize "state guest treatment" but its scale is far smaller than when other leader visit to US.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

While speaking with reporters next to the president of Japan at the White House, Biden said, “Elect me. I’m in the 20th Century,” before correcting himself, saying, “the 21st century.”

I'm not sure Joe actually knows when or where he is.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

I'm not sure Joe actually knows when or where he is.

Someone didn't see the SoTU.

But a looooooooot of independents did.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Present Japanese PM has no "leadership", his incompetent response to fundraising scandal also proves it.

He is just obedient to strong person such as U.S or large corporations or influential former PM inside LDP.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Biden praises Kishida's leadership

then he truly is a fool

Leadership?

Kishida couldn't a bicycle rolling down a hill!

Kishida can get a meeting with the Microsoft CEO and get a USD 2.9 Bil investment.

I'm sure you wouldn't get past building security.

It's much bigger than when your Xi visited.
