The Japanese leader has said he's worried that North Korean security threats to Japan, including short- and medium-range missiles, may not be discussed, and that Trump will focus on intercontinental ballistic missiles that threaten America.

Medium and short range missiles are a threat to both South Korea and Japan. And North Korea has displayed it's ability to launch them from submarines, meaning they can hit the United States even without ICBMs. So realistically, it makes zero sense to not discuss them.
