I imagine they would make good friends - given their moral backgrounds, policies and priorities.

Abe is the owner of a shot real eagle or a stuffed one?

Of the real eagle. It probably means he'll support its care and later release, not bring it home to Tokyo to eat crows. :p

An eagle for a hawk.... Very fitting.

Duterte’s top aide, Christopher “Bong” Go

Perfect nickname for the War on Drugs.

Abe also became the owner of a Philippine eagle, named Sakura, which is being treated at a local rehabilitation center after being shot and wounded by hunters

How about an addict's head trophy while you're at it? Seems like we've bought several with Abe's largesse.

The folks in the states don't hear much about Abe's history. How about a good link?

Glad he did not eat meat. You never know what kind of meat is considered simple by this host. Hope Amie san packed enough Chocolates for his snacks..

By visiting Davao and Duterte's simple residence plus eating durian in the streets, PM Abe just walloped both Presidents Obama and Xi in the personal charismatic department for statesmen pure and simple.

This is good for Japan and a lesson for future leaders.

Maybe President Trump will try to beat Abe by eating Manila's chicken embryo delicacy?

Coming soon!

@hiro: what is chicken embryo? How to cook? Do you eat often?

@toshiko: my bad! ... bass player Noel from PH band said it's duck embryo not chicken! called barut??? They eat it before playing basketball for energy.
