I hope you don't actually believe that. Freedom of the press is on the surface only in Japan. Any reporter/news agency that steps out of line loses access to the kisha club, which is a career ender/company ender. Freedom of the press is purely for appearances sake here, all tatemae. It doesn't actually exist.

Nope, you are the one who did not understand the point. War is war, and things about raping, killing civilians, etc... happened back in those days in Europe and South America. Please study more about those wars before saying things that you even don't know. Regardless of apologies, China should be mature, move on, forget about these things and think more about her people.

mitsuo, you still do not get it. Solders fighting with solders is called war. Solders killing innocents civilians is criminal. Both Korean and Chinese and other Asian people can not tolerate and forgive Japanese army's action of deliberately killing of civilians during WWII. I do not call that is a war but a criminal action against humanity. It is the same action of Hitler Germany. You should understand this if you are adult unless you have been brainwashed by your biased media and education system.

The only way for Japanese politicians to stand out is to position themselves opposite china and Korea. Why East Asians hate each other so much? I have no idea. Oh I see, many right-wingers actually have family background in the military. I can understand the burden of history they are shouldering, it must be quite a dilemma - on the one hand you need to uphold family honour but on the other hand you find it difficult to deny logic and facts. This is not good in the long term because you do not know which values or roots to grow, and if you do not have deep roots you will become volatile and easily swayed by external events. This is a difficult situation, we must find a positive way to solve this problem.

Every time I see news like this, I see a clear pattern here. For instance, Japanese news headlines scream "Japanese Politician Visit Yasukuni, Korea/China/Evil People, Angery With Japan". This results in inviting the Japanese readers in bashing the Korean/Chinese/Evil People again. What's the reason? To jack up the nationalism and xenophobia in the Japanese populace, so that the current lawmakers can get rid of the Article 9 peace article, restrict freedom, and make Japan into a haven for right wingers. Those people you see in black vans you see in Japan screaming hatred through bull horns? They're going to be in charge of Japan soon. Just wait.

If it was truly freedom of religion, they would visit in private without reporters or press release. He is trying to boost his poll numbers at the expense of relations with China and Korea.

There is no difference between wars involving Japan vs China, Brazil vs Paraguay/Uruguay/ Argentina or France vs England. All of them had invasion, deaths, casualties, etc...

All that China and Korea want is to justify their hatred feelings toward Japan by talking about the old Japan.

Despite of those wars, young Paraguayans and Uruguayans are able to get along with their former enemies who are Brazilians. The same way, young French guys can get along with their former enemy England. Just remind you and others that none of them have apologized each other till now.

Off course, if nation X or Y apologize, things can be better; however, ever nation should learn to move on even without receiving apologies from their former enemies. In other words, they should learn to act more mature.
