It was decided months ago, look at the propaganda we have got. Sometimes the obvious is the truth. Only recently Suga has with the help of photoshop been able to smile.

I can’t wait for Suganomics. I’m so glad I don’t live in Japan anymore.

What a charade Suga was picked a long time ago. Why bother going through this pretend vote, shows how dishonest politicians and they know no one will complain.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

What, are they going to junken for it?

4 ( +7 / -3 )

vowing to carry on Abe's policies

did he have policies?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Looks like the 3 stooges coming together.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Does Komeito have no role to say in the leadership choice? Or they go along with whoever LDP comes up with?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

A one party ruling is NO different than a dictatorship, why even have an election!!!?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Suga has already been chosen!

What a farce!!

You are confusing a "one party dominated" government with a "one party" government. In the former, legislation still must face and overcome objection from opposition parties. In the latter, such as China, there are no opposition parties as they are illegal.

3 Stooges indeed.  Or the 3 Amigos.

Whichever gets the job, my guess is no or only incremental change.

And Orimpiksu definitely go ahead.  and casinos.  and pumping cash into the economy.

No. This is an election for the party leader, not for Prime Minister.

Other parties, including Komeito, will be voting for a new PM later. Komeito will be picking most likely, but not necessarily, whoever wins the LDP leadership.

What hogwash! Campaign to kiss-Suga's_butt for ministerial posts starts!

It will not able to vote direct from us and one of them will be the prime minister from LDP politicians. No need to say who will be bc most of LDP groups will elect him. That's a real plot that ignores we the citizens.

Of the government, by the government, for the government.

Japan's major TV channels continue to avoid to mention about what Suga had said and done as politicians or chief cabinet secrecy and how problem those are.

They who are scare of political pressure from next government broadcast only ''safe topic" about Suga such as favorite foods or private life or "success story", critical thinking to politics is nowhere.

those are like propaganda of dictator.

Only recently Suga has with the help of photoshop been able to smile.

Just when you thought he couldn't get any creepier...

Heaven help us all still stuck here.

Not even the LDP can make that choice by themselves. Nippon Kaigi are the real movers and shakers in this country

Noda had talked about it, but she doesn't have the backing. and Koike can't, so who else would you even suggest?

My little grateful advise would be to elect one still not on the list....lol

Alright I'll bite, since this is what you wanted, to be asked right? Who do you want? Trump?

I'm now more interested in knowing who will be the first runner-up in the race. The result will also imply who gets a rain check.

Carry on the failure of the failed and discredited Damenomics? Is that all you've got Suga? But at 71, he's not the future,so has little new to offer in dynamic ideas.

This. When politicians want to aim at the future, there has to be an open clash of ideas, and I would genuinely love to see strong TV debates between the candidates for that. However, the big problem is hos the party chose to pick their guy already just like when the Tories rallied behind Boris Johnson because all of the promises on Brexit instead of studying other routes.

Suganomics will include eye surgery that enables citizens to look him straight into his eyes when he makes excuses, oops, announcements.

Abe is stepping down in the middle of his term amid the current challenges in responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

What challenges when everthing is under control with controlled pcr testing.

The three are all good people - decent, reasonable, honest and kind. They are average Japanese. Neither of them will be involved in scandals. But they may not be a strong leader.

Ganbatte, Japan!
