China and Russia have also blamed joint military drills by the United States and South Korea for provoking Pyongyang.

So any joint military drills by China and Russia near Japan is a provocation and reason for Japan to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles for defense. I guess that is clear then.

Democratic countries that respect the rule of law enforce UN sanctions on North Korea.

Autocracies on the other hand support North Korea.

Hat's off to the Canadians and all members of the UN Command.

Why not send a leaky submarine as a gift to the Great Leader instead?

Long story short: one (single) plane on duty for 6 weeks. More symbolic than anything else.

Not sure that will make Fatboy Kim go straight for those six weeks...

The point is to track maritime traffic and identify ships engaged in sanctions busting by making at sea transfers of prohibited goods to other ships that bring the goods to DPRK. These ships turn their AIS system off but something like the Aurora (a Canadian version of the P-3 Orion fitted with the sensor package from the old S-3B Viking) can do very well. Every ally takes a turn doing this.
