@Goodlucktoyou: thank you for your info. If these children were kidnapped in USA, There are case of kidnaps in us when local low offices got reprimanded by FBI for not handing their investigation. You heard rumor in Okinawa?only FBI handle . Any ambassadors is not a commissioned FBI agents and they cannot mix up with FBI jurisdiction. You heard in Okinawa? Do you have the name of clinic? why American children went Okinawa clinics instead of advanced US clinics or Japanese clinics????
Goodlucktoyou
@toshiko I heard a rumour their are certain clinics... Basically she did nothing but alienate all the people of Okinawa. Play a card game or draw a kanji 3 years ago. The new guy guy at least has 3 years business experience in Japan.

She was terrific as Ambassador. Especially on education and cultural exchange between USA and Japan. She will be missed.

She is older now but she is still cute. @John:Wriyte where we can find stories US children kidnapped to Japan. When?
John Fewer
She is a failure when it comes to getting U.S children kidnapped to Japan .

Elects a guy to president who is famous because of his father. Derides a lady who is famous because of her president father.

Utter tripe and gutter snipe. While she is definitely famous in part through her name, she did quite a bit of good for the nation, including help to get the ONLY sitting president of the US in history to visit Hiroshima and make progress towards healing old wounds, in turn getting the only sitting PM of Japan to visit Pearl Harbor. I'd say even if she had done nothing else, and despite what you guys think of Obama visiting, that is a pretty big accomplishment. You think your hero Trump wouldn't have won the presidency without his name and fame (which he got from his own daddy)? Granted, he's certainly not going to to any good, as this woman did, but since you talk about name and all....

Bingo!

She was a great ambassador really. I also like to thank the staffs of US Embassy in Tokyo who worked hard to support her mission here in Japan. In many cases very difficult tasks diplomacy-wise that they accomplished.
I hope she'd have an opportunity to visit Japan again simply to enjoy, without political and diplomatic burden. She'd be always very much welcome here with great honor.

You are the most loved American Ambassador here in Japan and you will be greatly missed. Your hard work between Japan and US has been well recognized by many. Thank you, Caroline!

So what was with all this news about William Hagerty being ambassador?

After three years of decent work commenters have to sink to criticizing her kanji? Like to see your third year attempts! She will be missed and I commend her for her many accomplishments. Shame Taiji dolphin hunt is still in place but that is not her fault.

Japanese for the most part does not have plurals, so the same kanji is used when it's singular or plural.
ebisen
Actually the kanji menas "friend", no plural. Yes, the kanji's balance is bad...
bones
The kanji for friends looks like someone punched the head of another.

Yay! Bye!

It's gonna be weird to walk in the embassy and see portraits of reality-TV star Trump everywhere.

I give her an A-plus for a job well done. That's two winners in a row at the U.S. Embassy here in Tokyo ...

So, who is in charge now?
