Apparently ex-minister Kozo Yamamoto is surprised how his "well intended" comments could be understood so "wrongly" by "such black things".

Yamamoto is one of those racists who are too stupid to understand what racism is.

This article does a terrible job of explaining what the lawmaker actually said.

Way to go kids! Stories like this give me hope for the future.

I don't even understand what that comment even means... "such a black thing". Weird. He probably thinks Africans run about in grass skirts with bones through their noses while playing bongos around a camp fire.

The are all Chinese! Or, if you want to be more specific, the are mostly Mongolian! actually the irony is that all human genome can be traced back to the African continent about 200,000yrs ago, most likely they had dark or black complexions. So Mr Yamamoto is actually insulting his distant ancestors. LOL

Nice copy & paste article. As many of your readers would be interested in knowing what was actually said: 「何であんな黒いのが好きなんだ」or words to that effect.

Despite any protestation he might make as to how he was 'misunderstood', I think we have caught a true glimpse of his true feelings.

Disillusioned

Its 2017 and thats got nothing to do with it!

I’m Japanese, have always been, and people still laugh and feign disbelief when I tell them.

bam_boo: Agree with you on this one. No doubt Yamamoto is now busy complaining about how he was misunderstood, and will chalk this all up to "Foreigners not being able to understand the Japanese mind," because like many people who are the same, they don't think they said anything wrong.

Illyas: It was in a recent article.

Talk about wrong people in wrong positions. He sounds like that guy from the Tohoku Revitalization group that was carried on someones back so that his feet wouldn't get wet. Btw this groups goal is to:

In order to restore the local economic vitality and to overcome the declining populations of Japan, we will bring about a flow of people to regional areas by making them richly appealing places where citizens can work with a peace of mind, can marry and raise children as they wish, and where they can have hopes and dreams for the future.

We aim to make economic recovery felt in every corner of Japan, even as we squarely face the critical realities of a declining and aging population. The Government of Japan is working as one to form a new nation with an autonomous and sustainable society that fully utilizes the unique characteristics of every region in Japan.

Lot of big but empty words!

The sad thing is, none of us are no longer surprised by these type of stories.

If these words just “slipped out” of his mouth (or even if they didn't), you will never get a “sincere” apology from an old-fashioned turd like that

Sadly, that's what Kozo Yamamoto truly believes .

He called curators a cancer too. He disappointed only those who thought this guy could have a bit of grandeur in his flabby flesh.

Kozo Yamamoto questioned why a fellow ruling party member involved in exchanges with African countries liked "such a black thing."

Wow. That's such a Japanese politician thing!

Ah, Japan! Somebody really needs to slap all these old idiots in the head and remind them it is 2017, not 1817! Good on the kids for kicking up a stink! The Japanese are not the 'master race' they pretend to be. The are all Chinese! Or, if you want to be more specific, the are mostly Mongolian!
