I don't know how many times I have to post this, but Yasukuni Shrine is NOT like Arlington Cemetary. It is vehemently right-wing and full of imperial era propaganda. In fact, their official English language version Web site once posted that "Japan was forced into fighting World War II" and portrayed Japan as "the victim" of the war and atomic bombing by the U.S. Also it stated that Japan fought the war for "peace and prosperity of Asia". This is no change from the Empire of Japan days.

If you agree with this, then continue supporting visits to Yasukuni Shrine.

Serrano:

" I've never heard of any Japanese people getting all upset when Chinese or Korean people visit places in their countries to pay respects to their war dead. "

At the risk of of sounding like a broken record: That - is - NOT - the - issue.

Can we finally do without that strawman?

I do not give a hoot about what China thinks, but the Japanese population should protest their government officials going to Yasukuni because it is wrong.

If they want to pay respect to war dead, they can do that at another place, and not at that revisionist political shrine.

Let them have a dignified ceremony in a place that is without the political baggage.

"Good Bad Kobuta Chan Communist Chinese Government has no right to tell you can do and you can't do to peoples of other country...,"

Towards Japan ..The US can, is that right ? They donot tell, they take direct action ( Ospreys )

Contrary to the above report, neighbors are becoming indifferent towards the R-winger J Politicians' behavior..what people do care is the fact general J citizens & J image are taken as hostage. Yasukuni shrine stands for whatever symbolic meaning is not important anymore..what is important is : is there any other genuine political leaders far- sighted with sagesse to overcome the deadlock ? Is there opposition voices around in democratic Japan ? Pour more oil into fire is easy.. Easy !

It ISN'T "pretending", typo.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Pretending to know what the Chinese or Koreans feel is a modern day 'divide et impera' in a disguised form. It just stinks...

It is "pretending" - the feelings of Chinese and Koreans towards the honoring of their killers and torturers can be nothing but revulsion and deep disgust.

Just ask yourselves how Iraqis would feel if William Calley or Lynndie England are honored at Arlington for their "courage", and what they did were small potatoes compared to Ishii, Asaka, etc..

@Asianhometown,

You're right. Honoring war criminals shows the Japanese government officials are indirectly endorsing their deeds, whitewashing them.

So I guess Arlington Cemetary (sic) or any other war memorial sites are "business" of past enemy states?

Arlington Cemetery is NONE of China's business, ok? I have no idea if war criminals are interred there, will the US give Lynndie England an honorable burial there someday??

"Fortunately", you Americans have not come to massacre Chinese yet. Most likely, the 1.5 billion Chinese in the world will not accept mass murder this time.

Communist Chinese Government has no right to tell you can do and you can't do to peoples of other country. They have too much anguish and hatred to other country. It'll make their lives short. You don't have to wake up and check every time dogs was barking. They will quiet when they tired.

Asianhometown: how many civilians were killed at Nagasaki and Hiroshima? Will the US government ever come to terms with it? The West telling the Japanese what they should or should not do at home is called neo-colonialism. Pretending to know what the Chinese or Koreans feel is a modern day 'divide et impera' in a disguised form. It just stinks...

OTOH, Mao killed many Chinese, and it is the business of the Chinese victims and their descendants to reckon with >this history, and NONE of your business.

Interesting thinking indeed. So your government may kill many more of your people, torture them because they're of a different religion ot different ethnicity and it's no one's business but whatever shrine the Japanese visit is your business? Are you aware that it is what makes your claim ridiculous? The same principles that are used to define 'war criminals' are the ones your government run afoul of on your own people.

If these Japanese war criminals killed Japanese, then it's none of China's or Koreans' business, it is up to the Japanese and their descendants to come to terms with them. However, they killed millions of Chinese and millions of other Asians. This is why it is our business.

I think it is pretty simple..Germans understands the crimes the Nazis committed during WWII especially the mass murder of Jews at Holocaust and etc therefore the Germans would never build a Memorial honoring or praying for the spirits of Hitler and Nazi class 1 war criminals. However the Japanese government has never came to terms with their history and the crimes committed by these class 1 criminals such as the Nanjing Massacre, Asian sex salves and etc. And they fail to understand that their annual visit to the shrine honoring these criminals shows a denial of history and the crimes committed...And open up old wounds especially for the Chinese who witnessed the mass murder and rape of young girls and women in Nanjing, Shenyang, and Shanghai..Some historians state that over 500,000 people were massacred in Nanjing along..

So its no wonder why the Chinese and the Koreans are passionate about their visits..

How many times has the Japanese Government got to apologize to the Chinese or Koreans for that matter, which they have done many times in the past. The Chinese look for any excuse to attack Japan. How many people did Mao kill. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

So how many times did Japan apologize exactly, and how many times have Japanese politicians denied Japan's WW2 crimes or visited Yasukuni Shrine? Let's do the Math.

While we're at it, we should also look at how many times German politicians denied the Holocaust and how many times did Germny apologize for WW2.

Looks to me like the current Chinese leaders are aspiring future War Criminals...

Like Ishihara is an aspiring future instigator of Nanjing Massacre, right?

As China is fond of saying "It's an internal matter". No Chinese are harmed or hurt by it unlike the Japanese in China. China needs to wake up and smell reality.

It is an "internal matter" for Japan if those Japanese war criminals committed crimes against humanity against Japanese people, ok?

China-Japan relation is at rock-bottom and this is what they immediately do. Good job. And they wonder why East Asians can't get along...

Blah, blah, blah and more blah, the Communist Chinese found an excuse to send in military forces to occuply the Senkaku islands.

Mao is a huge monster, one of the biggest, but he is not worshiped, except by those diehard, devious communists.

Do you think only those diehard, devious, anti-human and war addictive followers in Japan will honor war criminals?

..Mao

The ghosts of war criminals are lingering around those islands...Their followers are soul searching to justify their ultimate persistence...Their souls are still burning in hell, along with Hitler and ...

If the muslims wake up and realize that the Japanese have the priviledge to worshipped,. pray and pay respect their Class A war criminals in Yasukuni shrine. They the muslims will ask themselves why their own Terrorist chief was thrown and buried under the sea's without having any rights to worshipped,. pray and pay respect for the soul of theirs hero? They will ask isn't that Class A War Criminals = Terrorist?.Isn't that the Japanese Class A War Criminals done ATROCITIES against HUMANITIES? Isn't that Japan Class A War Criminal is more brutal and evil than their Chief?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Seems to me that if they just do some introspection and look at how many of their own people they persecuted and killed during their 'Step Forward' and 'Cultural Revolution' they'd realize they had better go after their own communist leaders.

And the consequence is dire...

And the cost of maintaining active link with war criminals is dire...

Foot-shooting flares up in Japan once again. I suppose we couldn't hope for any sanity to emerge.
